Now, for the best part of the game.

THE GOOD

Tide wins at home & ends 3 game skid
Attendance 11,400 on cold rainy night after losing 3 in-a-row
FT: 11/13  84.6%  UT 5/5 giving Tide 6 more points
Rebounds: Tide 42  UT 38
Obasohan 22 points 5 assists
Hale 20 points  8 rebounds
Norris 6 points 13 rebounds
Only 13 personal fouls resulting in only 5 FT's for UT
Points in the paint: Tide 34, UT 18
Fast break points: Tide 18, UT 4

THE BAD

Assists 8
FG  24/60  40%

AND THE UGLY

It took 33 minutes of poor offensive play to set up the comeback. 33 points in the first 33 minutes and 30 in the last 7. A good comeback none the less. No wins are easy this year. The defense played tough all night and the players never gave up.

Winning ugly seems to be a hold over from the Grant era. Give CAJ time and a few more players and basketball will be fun again. He is the polar opposite of Grant. He is on his feet coaching the entire game. Very vocal. I love the way he uses timeouts.

Off to Columbia to play USCe on Saturday. This road game will be much different than the game in Tuscaloosa.

Bama spent a good part of the game running clock, holding the ball on offense, doing more dribbling and passing than in past games.  Perhaps the strategy was because, as others have mentioned, Bama lacks depth right now and has shown fatigue late in games trying to run a more up tempo offense.  That changed when Bama was behind late in the game.  Tennessee got complacent, and cold shooting, and Bama was able to come from behind for the win.  No late game fatigue in this game, but the slower tempo did seem to hinder Bama's offense.  Bama won on FTs, 6 point victory, 6 more FTs.

Jamos first said it, I think, the loss of Dazon Ingram was huge. A freshman guard at 6'5", he brought instant energy to the floor and could do anything well (except shoot FT's). He was leading the team in rebounds, 2nd in assists & steals, scored almost 8 points a game (and was improving every game). He fit the uptempo style that CAJ wanted. On a side note, did you all notice how little Jimmy Taylor played? Just 11 minutes on the court. Is that a message to him?

Taylor has improved some this year but he is a far cry from being a basketball player. When CAJ pulled him the last time, Taylor went to the far end of the bench and that is where he stayed. I would like to see CAJ play Donta Hall more. When I watched him in their first scrimmage of the year I saw something in him that Bama hasn't had since Green and Mitchell were here, lots of energy and toughness. His skills weren't that polished but his aggressiveness was something Bama hasn't had for a while and is very much needed. Last night he showed that aggressiveness and his skills are improving as he gets more and more time on the floor. Kessens isn't much better than Taylor so what has Bama got to lose in giving Hall the job and getting him groomed for next year.

Bingo! I think we will definitely see more playing time from him. Very aggressive & energetic. Now, if he will limit his silly fouls, it will be a huge plus.
