Paterno press conference tomorrow. If he is "a little bit in touch" with reality then he will resign. If he does not, the Board of Trustees will have to step in and fire him.

Bingo!! You're right, but I don't see him resigning. I think he will defend himself and make the usual gratuitous statements about how bad he feels for the victims, which his dear friend and colleague of over 30 years raped. Paterno has to be fired, period.
It's kinda/sorta what I've been saying about Paterno the last few years, when his retirement comes up. He is obviously surrounded by people that only tell him what they think he'd like to hear. You see this with Presidents and their circle of confidantes. No one wants to say, "It's time Joe."

As a mom of three boys, I avoided reading about this.  I assumed it was child porn which was bad enough.  To see this thread title and read this...I'm just infuriated and deeply saddened.  I want to fricking burn Penn State to the ground.  JoePa, you are too fricking institutionalized if you think Penn State has jurisdiction over the rape of a child.  WTH?Huh??  Clean House.  Burn the Stadium. Cut off his junk.  Concentrate on Basketball.  End of story.  Nasty old men.

I can see him saying " I haven't been the head coach here for the past 20 years and I haven't worn a headset in 25. I didn't know."

Sadly I have had to deal with this, due to my job. It still makes me sick to my stomach.

Continue to avoid it. It will make you sick and angrier than you were when you posted this. It's very upsetting.  Sad

BlueWhite Illustrated>Lions Den

Maybe 10 different threads going and none have anything to do with the near miss win against Illinois or the #12 PSU game with #19 Nebraska. Imagine being a fan. You had nothing to do with any of it, but this is what you're stuck with the rest of the season (or next 10 years).

Some bad times coming for PSU and I don't see JoePa weathering this.

Ok, I'm sitting here wondering how my kids could get into this situation.  I also have three nephews, 2 of whom are close to the age of these boys.  I just don't get it.  I won't even let my boys go into the kroger bathroom with a man in there.  The only places they are without me are school and church...and at church I am VERY careful about who is supervising my kids because church would be a super easy place for a pedo to infiltrate.  How are 10 year old boys left alone with people in an athletic program?  Are they relatives of the pedophiles?  Are they children of people who work in the athletic department?  I just don't see a scenario where I left my kids alone with somebody like that.  There had to be a connection to people at the athletic department.  And what piece of *(&% just sees a child getting raped and leaves because they are "uncomfortable."  I have seen a child getting BEATEN (not spanked, BEATEN) on the street and turned my car around to go confront them...and that was before I had kids as a 22 year old.  Where is the sense of protection toward a child over your own comfort.  Does not compute.

ETA: This is how he came into contact:
"Sandusky sexually abused eight boys over 15 years through his charity for at-risk youth, authorities charged."

____terrible.

A GREAT statement from the State Police boss. He really nails Paterno.

Paterno may have fulfilled his legal requirement to report suspected abuse by former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, state police Commissioner Frank Noonan said, ''but somebody has to question about what I would consider the moral requirements for a human being that knows of sexual things that are taking place with a child.''

The sqeaky clean Big 10 is having a bad year. Two of their top programs have crubbled. First tOSU and now this. JoePa will step down or be forced out. How can something like this get covered up. I can not think of a worse crime. There is a special place in hell for people like Sandusky and the people that let him get away with this for so long.

I'm expecting the following signs to be shown at football games:

PSU
Pervert
State
University

Pedophile
State
University

I hope the media goes after Penn State and Paterno like hungry wolves. Zero excuse for this.

I've posted continuously about seeing this 2,3,4, or 5 years ago. I remember this because I sent a link to my PSU buddy about it. While some are trying to say this is limited to Sanduskey and the circle of people in the AD at PSU, I say this:  If so much as one hair on a kid's head was harmed since I read/emailed the article I found on line, they ALL should be standing as co-defendants in ALL criminal prosecutions relating to this matter.

I don't know the time-line on all this. When I first saw Sanduskey accused in an internet article I remember taking it as, "probably some financially strapped Mom trying to shake down the university for money". That happens a lot in sexual harassment cases, but parents are not so quick to say their kid was assaulted or raped when it is not true, particularly sons. Even for big money. It leaves a social stigma that the kid may never recover so chances were the parents believed what their son(s) said. Therefore, people close to all this, should have taken it serious and pursued it relentlessly. Sanduskey is criminally insane, the rest are just criminals.
