MSU up 1-0 coming up to bat in top of 3rd.  Bama had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out and didn't score.

MSU held scoreless in the top of the 3rd, still up 1-0.  UF scores 2 in bottom of 5th to go up 3-1.

Bama gets leadoff batter on, but  UF turns a double play.  Bama fails to score, going to bottom of 6th.

Softball gets first 2 batters on and fail to score.  Bama o for with runners in scoring position.

Bama baseball dodges a bullet in the bottom of the inning.  Two get on after 2 out, 1 an infield single off the pitcher's glove.  He then balks them to 2nd and 3rd but get the flyout by the next batter.  Still 3-1.  Softball holds MSU scoreless in the top of the 4th, still down 1-0.

Quick work for the Bama baseball 3 up and 3 down, going to bottom of 7th.

Bama goes down 1-2-3. At least one ball hit hard but right at 3rd baseman.

Just call it like I see it.  Looks like the weather is nice.  Softball, Bama finally gets a hit with runners in scoring position.  Go up 2-1.  1 for 7 with runners in scoring position.

UF gets runners to 1st and 3rd, but pitcher shuts them down.  Going into the 9th down 3-1.

Bama gets the lead off hitter on in the top of the 9th on an ear hole shot.  Next 3 batters go down.  Bama only had 3 hits as UF pitches a complete game.  Final 3-1.

Bama fails to score in the bottom of 5th, going into the 6th up 2-1.

Top of the 7th, MSU hits a solo homerun to tie the game.  Bama coming to bat in bottom of the 7th.  2-2.

After getting the leadoff batter on, Bama fails to score.  Going into the 8th 2-2.

MSU doesn't score.  going to bottom of 8th, 2-2.

Bama loads the bases and gets a 2 out walk to win 3-2.

The ladies struggled with their bats last night but did manage the hard earned win. I am proud of them for hanging tough to get the win and I could see some maturity in the late innings to make this happen.

The sad news last night was hearing the news of our ace pitcher Montana Fouts, she will be out indefinitely with an injury that hasn't been disclosed by Murphy. She was seen during the game in the dugout and wasn't showing any bandages or limps that would reflect what her problem might be. I've searched the internet in hopes of finding what the problem might be but no luck.

This is not good for the team as the pitching staff isn't that solid behind Fouts. I think there is a total of five pitchers on the team but none compare to Fouts. Cornell pitched last night and did a pretty good job by showing some resiliency with her number of pitches for the game, she had 131 pitches and had no walks. Murphy complimented her after the game saying she has become a stronger pitcher since transferring to Bama and I hope he was referencing to the fact she could throw some today if needed. The big issue though is getting their bats cranked up again, this is a must with the pitching staff we have. We will have to score more runs than what we did last night to win in the SEC but hopefully Fouts will be back soon and the pitching staff gets better as the season goes forward. This team has a lot of talent on it and I think they will get better as the season progresses, maturity is something that is gained by experience and not age, the real season is just beginning.

Thanks Jamos, and have an ecred for sharing that.  Hopefully Fouts will be back soon to help support the other pitchers.  In the meantime, hopefully they will step up their games to fill the void...

Softball Game Two: Bama leads 7-2 after 4 innings.

Bama beats Miss St 8-2.

WOOOT!!! Glad to see this. The bats must have been active.

Baseball swept by the Gators: 1-3, 3-12, 3-6.  Our conference record is now 2-7.  This is the first series that we have not been competitive.

Softball takes the first two 3-2 and 8-2, but drops Sunday's game 12-9 in 10 innings.  According to the box score we got 15 walks and 0 of our runs were earned (all scored in the 4th inning).

Yesterday was a total bummer, indeed. When the ladies roared back from being down 5-0, to take the lead at 9-5, I thought we'd cruise to the win, but our D let us down.

Equally as disappointed in the baseball team. I thought after the Auburn win, they might be going places. Looks like I was wrong.

To rub salt in the wound, the barn beat Kentucky to advance to the final 4.  :stop:

We should be extremely proud of our young ladies. They are playing great. RTR!

I know it looks bad, but Tues game are when they develop younger pitchers.  Most of the they don't start the guys who will be pitching on the weekend vs SEC opponents.  They gave up some walks and then  a guy hit a grand slam who doesn't usually hit long balls according to the announcer.  It was a strange game as Bama pitchers had 14 strike outs, 8 walks and only 6 hits.  Bama only had 5 hits and 1 or 2 of those were in the 9th inning.

That was a good win. A much needed win. That got me so fired up I am changing from 4.2 Bud Light’s to 7.0 IPA’s.

The girls score 2 in top of 1st to take a 2-0 lead.

Wow have our guys stepped it up since the loss at the first? RTR!

First win in Gainesville in program history. We beat them once before in Tuscaloosa.

IMO the baseball program is in much better shape in Coach Bo's 2nd year. He inherited a mess. We have 22 new players this year being a combination of freshmen and JUCO. Only two position players from last year start. We are hitting for a better average and have more pop in the bats. We do not have a lot of HR power but we hit the ball hard. Pitching still needs to improve.

We picked up two good conference wins yesterday improving our record to 4-7. We were 2-7 in our first three conference series but that was against #8 Ole Miss, #4 Arkansas and #14 Florida. Two of those series were on the road. We were 8-22 last year. We are 22-10 overall. We were 27-29 last year.

As a team we have a .274 batting average. It was .256 last year. Our ERA is 3.22. It was 4.11 last year. We have 4 players hitting over .300 with another hitting .296. We did not have anyone hitting .300 last year.

The SEC is very difficult especially in the West. It is going to take more time to compete with the elite teams in our conference but the program is trending in a positive direction.

Well done coach and guys. We are building. RTR!

Bama baseball got cheated by the weather. 2 outs in the top of the 12th and it starts raining. The pitcher lost control, I'm assuming because of the rain that suddenly started. The  walked batter that stole 2nd with 2 outs ended up scoring on 2 wild pitches for the go ahead run. Bama couldn't recover and lost 5-4 in 12 innings.

Bama loses the game 2-0.  Just couldn't get the timely hits as the bullpen did a great job holding SC scoreless after the 1st inning.  They were about 3 feet from a grand slam in one inning.

We are 38-4 and ranked #4. The sky is not falling. The SEC is competitive especially when you are away from home.

That one pitcher is the Ace of the pitching staff and one of the best pitchers in college softball. HTH

Not sure she would've helped this weekend.  We scored a single run combined in the two games we dropped.

Pitching was not the primary problem last weekend. Lack of timely hitting was the biggest problem. On Sat. we scored 1 run on 5 hits and left 6 runners on base. Sunday we scored 0 runs on 4 hits and left 11 runners on base.  

I might add that the rule change  prohibiting slappers from stepping out of the batters box caused us several outs and potential scoring opportunities. I hope we can get this issue worked out.

Keep in mind that on Friday these same ladies scored 9 runs on 13 hits against this same team.

I hope they find their bats 'cause the toughest part of the schedule is still ahead.

We're pretty good at beating up the mid-week teams, except for Troy. We've actually won the last 3 of 4, counting the 2 wins picked up against USCe.

We are 19-3 in non-conference play including a good win over Auburn.

Are we strong enough to win the SEC this year? RTR!

Seven SEC teams are in the Top 12 and we are not one of them. We are being projected to win 10-12 SEC and finish about 5-7 games above .500. We need 13-14 SEC wins to make the NCAA Tournament. We are getting better but we are not there yet. It is a long way to the top when you start at the bottom.

Bama baseball at MSU, after 1, 0-0.

Bama gets a runner to 2nd with no outs in the top of the 2nd and doesn't score.  MSU come in and scores 4 which includes a 3 run homer. 

Bama loads the bases with no outs in the top of the 3rd.  They have the 2-3-4 hitters up and they all strike out.  No score for Bama.

MSU doesn't score in the bottom of the 3rd. 4-0

Bama doesn't score in the top of the 4th.  MSU pitcher has struck out 11 batters, including 6 in a row.

Bama fails to score in the top of the 5th.  MSU pitcher struck out the side again, but there was a walk to the 2nd batter that stopped the consecutive streak.

Bama fails to score in the top of the 6th.  Good news, the MSU pitcher only struck out 1 that inning and has 16 for the game.

After the 4 run inning, Bama pitcher sat down the next 13.  He then gave up 2 hits, one an infield single.  However, MSU doesn't score and it is still 4-0 going into the 7th.

MSU changes pitchers because of the pitch count.  Bama fails to score in top of 7th.  I miss counted, the starting pitcher had 15 K's instead of 16.  So 15 of his 18 outs were strikeouts.

Bama goes to the bullpen and gives up 2 runs.  MSU announcers called the first runner's at bat a hit.  I think it was an error.  The ball was hit back to the pitcher and he bounced the throw to first.  This is the guy who scored the first run.  6-0 going into the top of the 8th.

Bama gets the leadoff hitter on with a double and fails to score.  Going into the bottom of the 8th, 6-0 MSU.

Bama loses game 1 6-0.  MSU pitchers had 18 strikeouts for the night.  Only Bama batter not to strike out was SS Robinson.
