Title: Alabama honors scholarship offer to player with career-ending injury
Post by: pmull on February 05, 2014, 09:26:46 PM
I get tired of hearing how ruthless Coach Saban is and all he cares about is winning at all costs. This is a sad situation for Elisha Shaw but at least he still gets his free scholarship to Alabama.

Quote
Earlier today, Texas A&M got a lot of attention for honoring its scholarship offer to Cedric Collins, who suffered a career-ending injury in high school.

Alabama and head coach Nick Saban did exactly the same thing today, as the Crimson Tide will honor its offer of a scholarship to Elisha Shaw, a Georgia product who learned recently from doctors that he would not be able to continue to play college football. He had suffered a neck injury prior to his senior season, sitting out the entire year wondering if he’d get a chance to live up to his relatively high ranking in the nation. Because he only recently found out he would no longer be able to play, he continued to be heavily recruited during the fall.

When Shaw found out his career could not go on, several schools backed away, but BamaOnline.com reported a source close to Shaw said only Alabama stood by its scholarship offer to Shaw. So on national signing day, Shaw decided to announce his intention to attend school at Alabama. He will be on a medical scholarship.

That is awesome! I felt bad for the kid when I heard about his injury, but I think it is very classy of CNS to bring him in on medical scholly.

People are so blinded by the jealousy of his success and it's a shame. This man is one of a kind and when he is done, he will go down in history as the greatest college football coach ever. He is far from done though after the collapse of the team this past year. ;)

Screw the rest of the country, we here in BamaNation know what kind of a man CNS is: passionate about the game, but a class act who truly cares about his players, even those who will never get to play a down for him. Kudos, Coach!!  #+ #+

Everyone on the nation hates Bama because of the success we've enjoyed since Coach Saban's arrival.  They can and will make all sorts of negative comments about him.  For those to whom it really matters we know what kind of person he is.  The rest, well they know too but just won't bring themselves to admit it because it is easier to hate on someone who opposes them than to admit the reality...
