Interesting article. I don't think the person who replaces him will be successful due to the immense pressre they would face. Kinda like replacing Coach Wooden at UCLA or Coach Bryant at Alabama. The first replacement is usually the sacrificial lamb.

I think the first choice will be Coach Anthony Grant, because by then we may have 2 National Championship Banners hanging. He takes a broken BB program and fixes it and wins in the field of 64 a couple of times, that would put him in stock for the high dollar and high pressure jobs. RTR!

Did you read the article? They will definitely want someone who is connected to Coach K and Duke. I think Coach K wants it that way, too. I doubt Coach Grant wins 2 NCAA titles in the next 5 years. It ain't that easy. Let's wait to see him win the SEC Tourney first.

  I've always wondered why, since a winning system is already in place. Shelves stocked with recruits. Great staff and recruiters still there. Any theory, MD?

I think it's one of two things, overwhelming pressure and/or incompetence. In the case of Bartow replacing Wooden, the expectations were just not reasonable. He was expected to keep winning championships on a regular basis. In the case of Perkins replacing Coach Bryant, history has shown Perkins was not a very good coach. Phil Bengston replaced Lombardi, same story as Perkins. I feel sorry for whoever replaces Coach K, he's doomed to failure.
