"Practice this week has had very good carry over from what we did the first five days," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban. "I thought the guys were crisp today and did not seem to have much rust from being off a couple days, which I think is important. We did a combination of fundamental work and also game-type preparations. I think it's important that everyone buy into what you need to do to get ready. It's like having a one-game season. Everybody has to pay the price now, so they can play the way they'd like to play when the game comes. I think the quality of practice is more important than it usually is, and I think finishing in practice is more important than it usually is."

Many writers and fans believe being off along time between the end of season games and the bowl games hurts the teams that are off the most time. This maybe true but Alabama was pretty beat up and really needed the exrea time to recoup for this rematch.

Okay, SERIOUS.  I listened to a talk show during the long drive home, and they discussed Alabama's long layoff.  They said it was similar to what the Big 10 teams used to have, a long time off while SEC schools were still playing.  Said it hurt to be off that long and will hurt Alabama.

Horse hocky.  I agree, Bama needed time to heal.  And I think the Bama coaches are mature and experienced enough to budget the time well and prepare the team.  I expect Alabama to play fast and hard, look polished, and win by 10-14 points.

That anti-segway enough?

Just hope they are amped up and completely ready to play from the opening k.o.  Every play will be important.
