I saw this quote this morning and it expresses my sentiments on Osama perfectly.

Hannibal-

So glad to know you are safe and your house is okay too.  AND glad none of those lines you stepped over had any way to be live.  I totally understand your feelings about what you saw.  These are not memories we will forget.  I haven't had the nerve to look at the pictures I took with my camera yet.  I'm just not ready to revisit the destruction.

Thank You so much, Nalt.  I so appreciate your call more than words can express.

Our power came back on while I was at church today.  Being in church was so restorative for me and I feel blessed beyond words.

Our church has a meeting tomorrow for ways to help in the relief effort although the priest and church members have been working with EMA since the storms. My priest's words were "We don't help just Catholics.  We help EVERYBODY (his emphasis)" in need.

I suspect there are very few Catholics in this group.  However, If anyone is interested in contributing, the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham (which covers all the area devastated including Tuscaloosa) is having a tornado relief special collection next Sunday.  All money will stay in Alabama and be used only for Alabama victims.  If you wish to contribute, all you have to do is go to your local Catholic church or church office with a check written to the name of that church and a designation that the check is for tornado relief.  I'm sure they will accept your check during the week but the churches are having a special extra collection on Sunday, May 8.  The priests and groups within the church already are hard at work helping relief victims and coordinating with EMA.  Any contributions will be greatly appreciated.

Warning, heartbreaking.

Many more names to add I am afraid.

The elder Hallmarks lived on Frontier Rd in the Ruth community.  Hedduk's uncle sold them the land and their house sat on a hill behind his house.  ther younger ones came over to ride out the storm with the parents.  The home was a manufactured home and sat on a slab. Frontier Rd is the road Hedduk grw up on and he still has a number of family living there.  All are safe but three family homes were damaged aand are no longer habitable.the tornado crossed Hedduk's farm on the ground before hitting the houses and destroying the Hallmark home.  It then crossed Frontier and follows the curve of it taking down wall trees on it and destroying numerous small homes and a small trailer park.  We were able to drive the road before the National Guard arrived and the devastation is surreal.  we took some pictures from the car but I am on my new Ipad2 and have no idea how to load them yet.

We have no power but have no damage.  We have a gas stove, a gas hot water heater and now a generator powering frig and freezer.  We also have wonderful neighbors and feel very blessed.

P.S. My pos is going behind the ads on the right side and I can't see any typos I am making there so please forgive my mistakes.

Please pray for the Hallmarks.  Our whole community is taking their tragic death very hard.

PPS  Our granddaughter at Bama had a sorority sister die in the Tuscaloosa ton ado.  This is the third Phi Mu that has been killed this school year.  Bam a has recommended that all students go home and final exams have bben cancelled except for students who want to bring up an existing grade.  Those will be administered online.

forgive my ramblings - that's all I seem to have done for days.  I just can't seem to focus right now.

It rolled through our yard in Arab at 6:30 AM.  Amazing amount of rain in a few minutes, yard's a mess with a number of fairly large limbs down.  The weirdest part is we found about a one foot piece of white vinyl siding in our front yard.  No white vinyl on our house or any of our neighbors.   Huh?

Will be glad when the last two lines of storms move through and I can settle down.  I HATE STORMS!!!

Morning all!  Prayers for your mom, Nalt.  I was awakened by sirens at 6:15 this morning.  Turned on the TV and saw all red to the left and a message 6 minutes until it was in Arab.  Woke sleeping beauty, who was not too happy, (usually he wakes me).  We slowly got up and I put the dogs in the "tornado" closet (Benny's).  About that time wind started slamming debris against the back of the house.  No trees down but large limbs all over back and side yard.  Mess to clean up but we'll wait for the next two rounds before we start!

Hope you all are safe and sound.  Looks like the shoals and Leewillie had pretty heavy weather and more to come.  Everyone stay safe.  Say a prayer that all of us and our loved ones will be safe. The rest we can fix.

Lordy Kupkake we are close in age huh? lol. I use to ride through there just to see what a Hippie looked like. I remember when they had that great painting of Jesus on the Wall down on 10th St. I believe that place is known as Cabbage Town now is that right! RTR!

Cabbage town is further south and east and closer to Grant Park.
I think the 10th St area had a nickname but it escapes me!  And yes, I'mm older than dirt! Wink
