Rory is definitely on fire. Hard to pull against him. I wouldn't count out "Money" Jim, either.

Westwood won't be able to keep up the putting. Bubba is just hitting too many loose shots these days. I don't see him winning, although I'd pull for him.

Today is a critical day for Phil. If he plays well, he could make a run and I think he has a good shot. If he falters, he's done.

I'm pulling for Chris Wood to make the weekend.

Bubba birdied 10th (-2).

Rory par (-5).

Kaymer birdie (-2).

These 3 are together.  Good stuff.

Bubba birdies the 11th also:  -3.

Rory gets par; Kaymer with bogey.

Stenson with an early birdie.  He's tied for the lead: -6.

WTH?  Rory has missed the fairway on both his drives; the latest on 12th (missed badly with a fairway wood).

Yesterday he hardly missed any drives!

addendum:  Rory paid for it with a bogey on 12th: -4.

Bubba and Kaymer with pars.

Rory birdies it after his first bogey: -5 again.

Rory just on fringe.
Kaymer in heavy rough.
Bubba had one of those loose shots we discussed.  He was wildly off, over on the 15th tee area, after hitting a cart path.  Oops.  


   Bubba hit over a bunker and within 2' of the hole.  WOW!
Kaymer got a horseshoe-looper, double bogey: +1.
Rory chipped long, but made an 8' comeback for par.  What a talent!

RAINING HARD, but no thunder.

Rory and Bubba with good drives (Rory in 1st cut), both on green in regulation; both with chance for birdie.

* Rory got his 15' birdie (-6).
 Bubba (-3) and Kaymer got pars.

Steve Stricker (-5) is the hottest golfer, 3 under for the day after 7.

16th in the rain:

Rory and Bubba hit fairway. Kaymer right on margin of 1st cut.

Rory within 9' for birdie; Kaymer missed green;
Bubba missed the green, then said to his caddie: "I got nothing, man.  I can't play golf in this [RAIN]."

Bubba changed gloves, but has no grip it seems.  He slammed his club into the ground.
 

*Rory burned the cup and got par.
Kaymer and Bubba got their pars, albeit good scrambling.
Bubba is very unhappy now.

17th (long par 4 in the rain):

Rory with a great drive and splashdown in the fairway.
Bubba hits, then grumbles, "Water on the clubface, man, water on the clubface."  He's by a tree.
 

*Bubba is pissed.  He may walk off or explode any minute.  The rain has him frustrated.  He usually is able to shape shots by using a tight grip.  He has no grip in the heavy rain, and is whining constantly.  Yikes.
Bubba missed the green.  Rory has a chance at a long birdie.

*Bubba scrambles well again for a par.  He gave a smile finally.
Rory missed the birdie.  Par

Steve Stricker is now 4 under on the day: -6.
BTW, Sergio (-1) is E on the day after 9.

18th in the light rain.  Easiest hole of the day:

Rory on the fairway.
Bubba shouted: "Doesn't matter what I do, man.  Doesn't matter!"
His foot slipped and he failed to work the shot; missed the fairway badly, down into the water hazard.  

*Bubba mishit (oops, miss hit) his 3rd shot (after a penalty).  He has melted down to a mess now.
His 5' putt was pulled too, and he made the first bogey of the day on the 18th hole!

Meanwhile, Rory sinks a 30' eagle: -8 now and leading the field!

Thanks for the updates. Looks like the rain will be moving out soon, maybe too late for Bubba.
