No. 3, 214 yards, par 3: Deep bunkers guard both sides of this small green, and the worst miss is long and right.

Tiger (after a missed opportunity at #2) makes a mighty swing; ball lands 12' from hole and stops right there.
Tiger's putt for birdie: powered thru the break.
Par.

2 tied for 1st at -4 now;
3 at -3;
lots (~6) of players at -2.

You know I like to watch golf, but I actually pull for the young guys to win. I like to see them get some accolades, one or two not always the bigger than thou attitude. JMHO. Not upset. I think golf takes and expert game that just not any one person can do. It looks to be hard work. RTR!

No. 4, 570 yards, par 5: This typically is the best birdie chance at Oak Hill.

Driver here at #4?  Yep.  What a dope (no need to hit a driver).  Tiger in the right rough.  Has to lay up, prolly.
2nd shot layup stays in the rough; no bounces off tree onto fairway.
3rd shot; Hits it heavy; bunker greenside.  Bad shot.
Chips to within 5'.
Lips out.  BOGEY.

Phil warming up.  Tees off in an hour.
Hearn at -5 now.
Furyk at -4.
3 tied at -3.

I'm following Tiger, because that's the only available player on the streaming.  The tournament comes on TV at 1PM.  Until then. this is it.

Popcorn OK, I understand my friend. It really gets interesting when the field loads up. RTR!

No. 5, 428 yards, par 4: The tee shot must travel through a chute of trees for 215 yards, and then avoid a creek that winds into the landing area at the 250-yard mark.

Hopefully Tiger throws away the driver.  He's turrible with it!
Tiger tees off with a 5-wood this time.  Down the middle.
2nd shot to within ~20'.
Good birdie attempt, but grazed the cup; 3' left.
Par.

Keegan Bradley got another birdie: tied with Tiger at -1.

Light breeze on the course now.

No. 6, 175 yards, par 3: Four players made a hole-in-one during the first 90 minutes of the 1989 U.S. Open, and two players made an ace during the Ryder Cup in 1995. The green has a deep bunker on the right side and a creek that winds around the green on the left and front.

Update:
Hearn and Furyk at -5;
5 tied at -3.

Tiger hits a high shot that drops ~25' from the hole.  Keegan and Davis are inside him, both on the green.  Tiger's patience is being tested.
Tiger lags putt to 5', goes past the hole; poor by his standards.
Good putt; Par.

No. 7, 461 yards, par 4: This is one of the tightest driving areas with a fairway width of about 22 yards. A creek on the right side comes close to the fairway.

Update:
Hearn bogey at the closing hole drops him back to -4.
Furyk still -5 after 13.
Five at -3.
The breeze is stirring a bit more, but still less than 10k.

Tiger (-1) off the tee with an iron, but hits it heavy.  In the fairway, but not very long.
From 230 yards, Tiger hits just short of the green.
Chips just past hole: 3'.
Par.

No. 8, 428 yards, par 4: This is a straight hole, with fairway bunkers on the left side so deep that players might not be able to reach the green. Trees loom on the right side of the fairway.

Tiger hits a 3-wood to left side, on fairway...
2nd shot poor ("loose shot"); trap on short side.
Blasts to 12".
Par.

Update:
Jim Furyk   -6
David Hearn   -4
Robert Garrigus   -3
Paul Casey     -3   F*
Matt Kuchar   -3
Bill Haas   -3   F*
Marcus Fraser   -3

Dufner, S Stricker, Haas, Stenson all now at -2.  Sergio finished at -1.
Phil tees off at 12:45 our time.  TV coverage on TNT starting now.

No. 9, 452 yards, par 4: An uphill, dogleg right that has rough so deep on the right side that the only option might be to chip back out to the fairway.

Tiger with his 3-wood.  Just off the fairway, and on the wrong side.  He'll need a massive slice to get onto the green.
2nd shot: slices, but not enough.  He's 25 yards short and in deep rough.
3rd: Chops it from thick rough, but short and buries in trap.
4th shot from against lip of the trap: explodes to 15'.
Bogey putt lips out. Double. Tiger finishes at +1.

Phil is off, playing with Adam Scott, and Justin Rose.

Phil has been Phil; sprayed his first tee shots, then hit great chips to save par.  He's even after 1.  Just hit his tee shot (hybrid club) at 2nd to the right into deep rough.
Adam Scott hit a wild drive under trees, but scrambled and sank a 10' putt to save par.
Rory is looking good with his iron shots (that's different for him).

Glad I wasn't the door on Tiger's locker after that round.
