I don't know how Coach Sanderson did it but he had good teams every year. Work, and more work I would guess. RTR!

You're right preacher. CWS always had hustling teams. Just could never make past the Sweet 16. In particular, I remember the year we played Loyola Marymount when their star player Hank Gaithers had just died. Bama played a slow tempo game in an attempt to slow down LM from scoring at will. IMO, we had better athletes than they did and should never have played to that style. Bama was a good up-tempo team. I think we lost by 3 or 4 points in that game. Just one of the times I thought we should have made it to the Elite 8.

Agreed. I haven't read anybody spontaneously breaking out into a 4 alarm brawl yet. Good bunch of people in this pacle.

I am old enough to remember CM Newton as coach. He had some great teams and players. Wimp came along and we were almost automatic in the Sweet 16. Wimp had a nack for winning the conference tournament as well. Gottfried had a few good teams and one nice Elite 8 run. We have a good BB history and most people do not realize it. Other program through the years is considered the second best in the conference behind KY. Coach Grant has us moving in the right direction. Give him another year or two and we will be a consistant top 20 team again. I know we are a FB school but there is nothing wrong with being good at everything.

I know. I remember the team that had Leon Douglas that took the undefeated Indiana team to the brink before losing. That Alabama team played them better than anyone in the tournament that year.

LOL!  Mrs. Bill keeps my ego toned down when it requires.   I am indeed impressed.  I'm going room to room now, checking it all out........I smell cedar, is there a sauna in here?   Cool

Welcome aboard Brosky. Looking at your avatar, you haven't changed a bit. What did you do, find the fountain of youth?

Yes, and it flows with poontang.  Hope I can say that here.  Is it okay???   Huh?

Country, honor, freedom. If I'm gonna die for a word, my word is poontang.

Sin,

'Animal Mother'

Thank you for making us think of our mother's poontang.   Embarrassed

Fixed it.  Funny, when I think of that character, I dont think of my mom.  He's one of the best parts of Full Metal Jacket, imo.

He's pretty good in "Chuck" too. Tongue

I was at the Auburn game in 85 when Tiffin kicked the 53 yard field goal with no time left on the clock for the win. The game had gone back and forth and either team could have won. Back then the game was in B'ham and the crowd was split 50/50. I have never seen anything like it.

Watching that game (on TV) as a child with my father is one of my best memories.

My wife and brother are barner fans. We watched this game at my mother's who was a Bama fan. My wife and brother thought they had the game won and were rubbing my nose in it. Plus I had $50 on the game with my barner boss. When Tiffin made the kick, Mom and I were jumping up & down, hugging each other. We turned around and my wife and brother were gone. I walked outside and they were walking in opposite directions down the street, fuming. Best game ever, IMO. I still haz the warm fuzzy just thinking about it.

I feel strongly that they're in. For the love of Pete, they have a 12-4 conference record.I don't know when a major conference team with a 12-4 record ever failed to make the dance.

56035  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Another Story About Street Agents with Auburn on: March 07, 2011, 07:24:53 AM
Auburn cannot enjoy thier tainted championship. Stories like this come out everyday. Too much smoke - the fire is near. I still think they will find out CAM took big money but that is just one of their problems. I do not ever remember a program under as much fire as Auburn is.

56036  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Six Classic Sugar Bowl Games on: March 07, 2011, 07:19:34 AM
I agree the 79 game was great. There are some games missing from the list IMO. The 92 Miami game was great. On a sad note the 73 Notre Dame game was a terrific game. Too bad we came out on the wrong end of that one. It still hurts me to think about that game today.

Me too. I started dating a girl in Montgomery and she moved to Atlanta. I was spending the weekend with her and her parents in Atlanta and we watched the Bama/ ND game. With her parents present, I really had to behave myself. That was tough enough as it was. I'm like you pmull, that game still hurts today. My 2 favorites are the Bama blow-out of Nebraska and the stomping we put on Miami.
56037  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: *** SEC Basketball Tournament Thread *** on: March 07, 2011, 07:00:18 AM
Yeah, one game at a time. The Georgia game will be tough the 2nd time in a row, especially in Atlanta. I actually think we match up pretty well against UK if we can get past Ga. I don't think Fl. will be as tough away from home, although they are playing their best b'ball of the year right now. I think Bama's in the dance, no matter what happens in the SEC tournament.

Mornin' all. I made it back from P'cola without incident. Just a little hard to steer with the wind and all. Great header SC. Looks great. E-creds to all. I'll pick this back up at work.

Glad you made it home safely.  You've got me thinking about a trip to the coast when it warms a bit.

Pup, what's in Vacherie, LA (other than plantation below)??

Yeah, I'll be heading back down when the weather is good and try the fishing again. This was a tough weekend with the bad weather and my wife with the flu. I did, however, catch up on some badly needed rest.
