Title: NIL $$$
Post by: McBaman on July 19, 2022, 01:48:36 PM
A "collective" at TX Tech will start paying each scholly player on the FB team + 15 walk-ons $25k per year.  Beginning this fall.  You gotta be happy for the players but...man... for a guy who had no $$$ in HS this is quite a change.  Some players will add their own NIL deals on top of the $25k.

Well I am afraid you have seen the end of competition of college football. It is all about money. RTR!

I at least like that everyone is getting something.   $500/wk isn't what it used to be.   It's enough to get into some trouble with, granted, but most will probably use the majority on clothes and eating out.

Being dead broke in college was the norm at one point, but that's probably changed.  It's amazing how much money I see parents shoveling at kids these days.

I have no problem with that.

As long as everybody is equal.

It really hurts the small schools and small market teams.

These are the very same teams/markets that ESPN et al allege to care so much about.

What about Title IX?

Lots of money from the schools to the players.

Unsustainable in the long run.
