The University of Florida will welcome back Steve Spurrier …  the man who put Gators football on the map. Spurrier, who won a Heisman as a player and then came back and coached Florida to glory — picking at, poking fun at and beating rivals Tennessee, the rest of the SEC and Florida State all the while —  has been named Ambassador and Consultant for the Florida Gators Athletic Department, Jeremy Foley announced on Friday.

The Head Ball Coach took a job as ambassador at his alma mater, Florida, and it means he’ll leave the similar role he had at South Carolina behind. Steve Spurrier confirmed to The State he will resign from the role he took in February that would have paid a salary of $100,000 a year. Several prominent school officials also spoke on the impact Spurrier had in Columbia.

Glad to see it. He will be an asset for them, and I'm sure he's glad to be back home.

Well this is one I don't really know what to say. Being an ambassador with his attitude could be good but might set kids in the wrong direction. I just don't know. RTR!

I think that if the Gators have a decent qb and they let OBC work with him then they will develop into a very good qb...

We seem to have become a quarterback factory, developing other teams' QBs for them on any given Saturday!

Yea and of all the coaches it always seemed to be Spurrier who was the one it happened against. RTR!

Only once, right?  Also, a QB from A&M, one from Aub-humperland, one from Ole Miss, and one from Oklahoma.

Add Tebow at Florida and Utah. They are several other QB's that played lights out and still lost to us.
