Problem: Running game at Arkansas
Entering the year, the least of Alabama's concerns were dedicated to its running offense. And for the first five games, things were chugging right along with a talented stable of backs. It took a blow when Kenyan Drake was lost for the season with a broken leg at Ole Miss. But a week later, it had a historically low rushing total at Arkansas. The Tide managed just 66 yards on 32 carries ― tied for the fewest since 2010.
Response: After the offensive line took responsibility for the off night in Arkansas, it helped pave the way for a 298 rushing yards against Texas A&M. Then at Tennessee, Alabama ran for 183 yards on 41 tries. The 2.1-yard average at Arkansas was bumped up to 5.6 yard a try in the next two games....
Okay, the statisticians think we're improving.
But injuries, not average yards/penalties/points, are the biggest problem faced now.
