I'm not sure what the match format is for today but Bama has mopped Illinois in the morning matches 4-1. If there are no more matches, Bama is your National Champion. ROLL TIDE!!!!!

It is over. Bama wins the National Championship 4-1.

It was not even close. Only two of the matches went 18 holes.

The Crimson Tide defeated Illinois 4-1 .

Wyatt routed Thomas Detry 6 and 5 in the first group and set the tone.

Trey Mullinax, an Alabama junior from Gardendale, defeated Charles Danielson 1-up.

Scott Strohmeyer, a Tide senior from Auburn, defeated Brian Campbell 3 and 2.

Cory Whitsett, an Alabama junior from Houston, Texas, defeated Alex Burge 4 and 3.

Justin Thomas, a sophomore from Goshen, Ky., was the only Crimson Tide golfer who lost his final match, falling to Thomas Pieters 1 up.

The Tuscaloosa News has a good article about the Golf Championship. I like this quote about Bobby Wyatt who got off to a hot start and crushed his oppontent.

UA's two-man coaching staff had an early sense of what was to come for Wyatt shortly after the team arrived at the course at 6:30 a.m. to warm up for an 8 a.m. start.

“Bobby on the driving range, I don't think Tiger Woods would have wanted him when I watched him warm up,” UA coach Jay Seawell said. “(Assistant coach Rob Bradley) came up to me and said, ‘I wouldn't want to play him today.'”

Wyatt won seven consecutive holes to start the match, putting his point virtually out of reach before his pairing had even finished the front nine.

I love it that one of our players is from Auburn, Alabama. You know they are dog-cussing him for being there. Great game by all and another National Championship for Alabama athletics. I wonder if Saban was there?
