Title: Watched the Aday game again recently
Post by: crtuneman on July 26, 2012, 02:02:23 PM
I am so pumped about the season. I am ready for it to start. After rewatching the game I had the following thoughts:
-Our OL is stout and should make plenty of holes for the RBs and provide protection for AJ. (caveat: not sure how good the 2nd string guys are. They need a lot of seasoning)
-Kenny Bell is gonna make some DBs look bad this year. He is blazing fast. And Christion Jones is gonna have a breakout year. All AJ has to do is throw it up and let those guys run under it, like Jesse Palmer used to do with those fast Florida receivers.
-Our secondary is not gonna miss a beat. John Fulton, Belue, Dixon, Vinnie, and HaHa are gonna step right in and fill the holes. Of course, Dee Millner and Lester are going to be awesome as well.
-Cody Mandell could be a force in the punting game. He was ridiculous in the Aday game. Kicked a 66-yarder.
-I almost feel sorry for the OLinemen who have to block Jesse. And look for Adrian Hubbard to be this year's Courtney Upshaw. His speed and long arms are gonna help him terrorize QBs.
-One thing I worry about with AJ is that he needs to make good decisions. Last year he only threw 5 ints, but he was not slinging it for the most part. Now that the coaches are trusting him more, he needs to be careful. The 2 ints he threw at Aday were stupid passes into double and triple coverage. He has to be smarter than that.

I am ready for some football. Bring on the Wolverines!

In fairness to AJ, I think he was told to throw it up some during the ADay game to test the young secondary.

Good observation CP, I agree. The coaching staff knows what AJ can do but they needed to see the young receivers and DB's go after some balls in traffic. Those guys needed the work.

Just as long as he remembers not to do that in a real game.  :) :) :D

It's on Youtube. Just look up 2012 Aday game. Also, one player we are going to miss is Philip Sims. He had a great arm and would have been a great QB. I understand he wanted to play but I sure wish he had stuck around.

Thanks guys.  I watched the game and wanted to put some things out there.

1. AJ doesn't always set his feet when he checks down.  This can mean trouble.  He threw the ball well in the first 2 minute drill.  The first int was on him, he threw into double coverage.
2.  The Rec caught the ball with their hands and not let the ball get into their body.  I really think CJ will be a player on O and with special teams.  He also looks bigger this year.
3.  RB position is in good hands. Plenty of talent there.  EL looks huge on the sidelines.
4.  I don't think there is any concern with the front 7 on D.  They look pretty good.  LB's made good reads.
5.  SEC may have been in positon many times, but saw missed tackles an allowed offensive player to get outside too much.
6.  I think there is the potential for more depth than people realize here.  I like the big TE M Faciane.
7.  PS played pretty well, hate to see him go, but good luck to him.   PE made some good decisions.  May not have made all the plays, but made some good quick choices.

I was hoping you would do this Coach , thanks !

that's why I tried to hurry to get the link up in all honesty  :-[

great info , and I noticed some of those things but
I still believe we are in good hands and as long as the
guys gel and play as a T-E-A-M  we should smoke the competition .

ROLL TIDE YA'LL  let the games begin !

Was Blake Sims injured?  What is his role suppose to be?  Also, I did like the way this team interacted with each other, looks like good team chemistry.
