Alabama won Game 1 of the series 2-1 last night. It was a pitchers duel that Bama won in walk-off fashion in the 9th. Geoffrey Bramblett pitched 8 strong innings only giving up  4 hits and one run on a solo HR in the 8th. Matt Foster came on to pitch a perfect 9th with two strike outs to get the win. North Dakota stater Zach Muckenhirn pitched a great game in a losing effort. He started the 9th before he was pulled for relief help. He gave up only 4 hits and 2 unearned runs. He struck out 12 Bama batters.

Bama got a few breaks in the 9th to score the winning run. Freshman Chandler Taylor reached on an error by the 2nd baseman. Cody Henry was hit by a pitch. A wild pitch advanced Taylor to 3rd. Bama football linebacker Keith Holcomb, who is playing baseball this spring when it does not interfere with spring football, hit a shot at the shortstop who committed another error allowing Taylor to score from 3rd to end the game.

ND pitcher Zach Muckenhirn is very good. He beat nationally ranked #16 USCe last weekend 1-0 striking out 12. This was a good win for the Tide.

The two teams play again today at 2:00 and finish up on Sunday at 1:00. Jake Walters is expected to be the Bama starter today.

Looks like we've got a pretty good pitching staff. Good to see the team off to a good start.

Looks like we've got a pretty good pitching staff. Good to see the team off to a good start.

We do have a good staff. One of our top relievers, Ray Castillo, got the start on Wednesday against Nicholls State because he was not needed and did not get to pitch in the Maryland series. CMG wanted him to get some game action so he started him and let him go 3 innings.

Pitching is a strength of the team. In the past we have been week at the end of games. That no longer is the case. We have a very good relief staff and might have the best closer in the SEC in Burrows.

And he's gotten better every year. I wonder if he goes pro after this year. I'm hearing he's drawing the scouts.

Jake Walters pitched a good game today. He went 7 strong innings giving up 6 hits and 2 unearned runs. He struck out a career high 13 and only walked 1. Jon Keller pitched a perfect 8th and Thomas Burrows pitched a perfect 9th striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced.

We win the series and improve to 5-1 on the year. We go for the sweep tomorrow.

Game 3

Bama gets the sweep with a 7-1 win. Five Tide pitchers combined on a 5 hit 1 run game. They struck out 9 and walked only 1.

Tide batters only got 4 hits but scored 7 runs. They benefited from 5 walks and a ND error. Bama led 3-1 going into the bottom of the 8th where they got 4 runs on only 1 hit to put the game away.

The tide enjoyed their first two weekends at home since the 2014 season. They went 6-1 in the beautiful newly renovated Sewell Thomas Stadium. They hit the road now for a single game at Troy on Tuesday before they travel to Cary, NC this weekend for four games against Notre Dame, Niagara, NC State and Brown.

Keith Holcomb had another good game today for the Tide. He might be the big break that Gaspard has been looking for to salvage his job.
