This does not make sense. ACC goes after Pittsburg and Syracuse to get big money TV markets. I still said WV does not have anything to offer. It will cost the SEC schools money to add them.

Agreed. I'm a litte shaky on what WVA brings to us, certainly not a huge fanbase or TV market. Also, I expect FSU to seek the SEC.

I don't mind posting this again, for as many as possible to see. WVU has no TV market. There is only about 1200 people in the state and 100-200 of them cannot afford TV. Another 300-400 are on rabbit ears. The fans are uninformed, viscious idiots that may beat you up in front of your wife and kids. The logistics in and out of Morgantown are unimaginable. They travel well numbers wise, but bring their own food and drinks, and will steal your lawnmower out of your yard.  The stadium holds 65,000 but by the time you seat all the morbidly obese skoal dippers the actual attendance is less than they have at the National Guard Armory Toughman contests. They have a NC Rifle Team that only loses, occassionally, to the service academies or Alaska-Fairbanks.

No one in the main stay of the acc is going to leave. I don't see fsu bailing to go to the sec. So that leaves WVA. One thought now, does ND jump Big East and head to Big 10. Screw their Indy football. They compete in big east in everything else. I think the stars are all aligning now.

Syracuse ma not have a big following but to get a portion of the New York TV market is huge. The ACC also has BC for the New England market. The ACC is trying to postion themselves before only leftovers remain. I believe the SEC has a plan, I wish I knew what it is.

Just because they apply, does not mean the SEC accepts.  The SEC can pick whomever they want.  There is no reason for them to accept a school that has nothing to offer.

Yes, they are being very proactive, and smart too.

From Oliver Luck (WVU Athletic Director):

Quote
"There is no question that the landscape of college athletics is once again changing. West Virginia University has great tradition as the state's flagship land-grant institution, and we will continue working to do what's best for our University and its athletic teams. No matter how the college athletic landscape changes, there is no doubt WVU is and will remain a national player."

Oliver Luck is a class act but this statement is a patent response. Ollie knows this is all crap and that WVU has no tradition to speak of. He realizes they only make BCS bowls because they play in the big east and the path is the easiest of all the BCS conferences.  He is also regretting the Holgorsen hire, due to off-field antics, and wishes he had never taken the job.

FSU just formed a committee to see about conference realingnment and the benefits of moving. I don't think this is a coincidence.
