??? - THE 4 PLAYOFF TEAMS (updated) and Bowl Pairings - ???

Bob Bowlsby (Big 12 Commissioner) was interviewed on "Mike and Mike" this morning.  When asked about the Big 12 adding more teams and a CG, he kept returning to their policy of "One True Champion" (everyone playing each other).  He said their rules about tie breakers (head-to-head wins) are for bowl pairings, and they'll continue to name co-champions if teams have similar records.

Bottom line: they ain't changing any time soon.  Their schedules for next year are set, and adding teams would only solve the problem 2-3 years from now (and after an 8-team playoff was in place - possibly).

RIP, Big 12.   

Jeff Long kept insisting yesterday that the lack of a Big 12 CG had no bearing at all, on their decision to leave out Baylor and TCU.

The Big 12 struggles with counting.  Only 10 teams actually in the conference, and 2 co-champions is not 1 true champion.

It is also pure coincidence that Florida State went back into the third spot, with Ohio State at fourth. 

So we have two story lines for two playoff games: 
(1) Saban v. Meyer, the renewed rivalry, and
(2) Last year's Heisman winner v. (probably) this year's Heisman winner.

Of course, none of this played any part in the committee's deliberations.
