Title: SEC Championship Game: Keys To the Game
Post by: crtuneman on November 26, 2012, 08:27:43 AM
Since we are getting ready for a date with Georgia Saturday, what are your keys to the game? Here are mine: On defense, Adrian Hubbard is the main key to Bama winning. Last year in the champ game against LSU Courtney Upshaw had a monster game. He was in the backfield all night and he made life miserable for Jefferson and LSU. Adrian is our best pass rusher and he must have a dominant game for Bama to be win. If he can be a disruptive force in the backfield he can make life difficult for Murray which will force turnovers and get Georgia off the field on 3rd down. I just feel that if Adrian doesn’t provide this disruptive force, I don’t know who will. He needs to have his best game. On offense, we must have success on 1st down. That was our problem against LSU and A&M. We struggled on 1st down and ended up in too many 3rd and longs. AJ must have another career day like he did against LSU last year. I hate that we will be without Bell. He was the best deep threat in college football. He led the NCAA in yds per catch. Hopefully Cooper will be able to stretch the field. We really will miss Bell.

I agree that we need a good game from Hubbard.  I like the fact that some of their players are running their mouths.  This bodes well for us in my opinion.

I feel confident that we can stop their running game. We struggled against Texas A&M because of Johnny Manziel. Murray is not the run threat that he is, so we should be able to shut down their running game. If we can force them to be one-dimensional, we can force them into mistakes.

If we dont get a pass rush the game will be tight.
Also, a concern i have is Sunseri, he is a great run stopper but he is not a great cover guy. I really think they will pick on that area.

Bama should win IMHO, but i am concerned more than I would be if we were Playing Notre Dame next week.

Sometimes, what starts out like this....

Ends up like this........

Sometimes you just get a feeling that team is in the mood to go into someone's house and eat their lunch.

Our team is laser focused right now.  Their guys are all down at the jewelry store getting their ring size.  This could get ugly for them.

Geno Smith has been playing well the last couple of games. I think he sees the field more than Vinnie this week. Also we saw a lot of Nick Perry against Auburn, and I had not seen much of him since the LSU game. My biggest concern is Belue. He needs to step up his game this week.

WELL I say this most every game, but it's time of possession. Would like to see Bama have aprx 37 mins. That would mean we are moving the ball and scoring while Dawg offense istching. VC

We will need to put pressure on Murray. Murray is a good QB and UGA has good receivers. At this point in the season I do not think we can get pressure with our front four. We have not been able to do it all year. CNS and CKS will have to be creative in how we use blitz packages. We are the best in college football at changing up our coverages and bringing blitz help from LB up the middle and safety's and corners off the edge. I think we can stop their running game so if we disrupt their passing game UGA will be in trouble.

UGA is playing the best they have all year but the only two good teams they played was Florida and USCe. USCe beat them bad early in the year. Florida was a good win but Florida beat themselves with 6 turnovers. Murray does not play well in big games. Florida is the only Top 10 team UGA has beat in three years with Murray as the QB.

I believe the biggest key to the game is that we score one more point than UGA. If we do that, I think we'll be OK.
