You want the 2012-13 bowl lineup?

You got the 2012-13 bowl lineup, courtesy of the Football Bowl Association.

The FBA released all 35 of this season’s bowl games this morning. The postseason stretches from Dec. 15 with the New Mexico Bowl (MWC vs. Pac-12) all the way to the BCS championship game on Jan. 7 (BCS No. 1 SEC vs. BCS No. 2 SEC).Outside of the Sun Bowl (CBS) and the Cotton Bowl (FOX), every bowl game will be featured on the ESPN family of networks...
Laughing  I thought you might have added that part...
13172  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: "Notre Dame confirms Orange Bowl discussions with ACC" on: July 10, 2012, 10:24:52 AM
The Orange Bowl should be talking and looking at all their options. They would be crazy to lock in with the ACC and ND. Why not wait and see who is the best available teams. The ACC and ND should still be available.

I don't mind the Rose Bowl locking in with the Big 10 and PAC 12. They have a long history together. After that I think the bowls need to be open to take the best teams and match up they can get.

The college bowl season/playoff is changing just as fast as conference realignments.
The Big10 and PAC12 have the Rose Bowl.  The SEC and Big12 have locked into another bowl.  That leaves the ACC, BigEast, and the smaller conferences.  With the Playoff format, the traditional bowls might not be getting the same BCS teams, so it makes sense to look beyond the BigEast.  And while we all know that ND sucks and is overrated, they fill stadiums and bring fans.
13173  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Georgia RB Crowell Picks New College to Enroll on: July 10, 2012, 09:33:43 AM
I just read this article about Vince Dooley saying he thinks UGA did the right thing kicking Crowell off the team. What surprised me was the article said UGA is down to under 70 scholarship players. Those are probation numbers. It is hard to build depth with those numbers.

Georgia, of course, is generally considered the favorite to repeat as the SEC Eastern Division champions and play in the SEC Championship. That is, if the Bulldogs are still able to field a team. With Crowell out and linebacker Brandon Burrows’ recent decision to transfer in search of more playing time, Georgia has dipped below 70 scholarship players heading into next season. The NCAA allows 85.

Those are some surprising numbers.  Richt should be better than than.
13174  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Missouri BB to Be Awesoome This Year in SEC? SIAP on: July 10, 2012, 08:48:18 AM
Yeah, let's mark this thread and revisit it after the season.  I actually hope they play well and compete well.  We need some more tournament teams from the SEC.
The Big12 is a good BB conference, and Mizzou won it last year.  While they might not be up to Kentucky standards, they should give the rest of us a run for the money.
13175  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Georgia RB Crowell Picks New College to Enroll on: July 10, 2012, 08:44:54 AM
Alabama State does send players to the NFL, maybe 22 total over the years.  I also think that a lot of schools didn't want this criminal.

DO offer up one of your commitments every year to Darth Saban as a tithe. He's going to take one anyway, so just brace yourself for it.
13177  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Alabama 2012 season preview: Mizzou on: July 10, 2012, 08:37:31 AM
I watched a bit of Mizzou football last night on ESPNU's best 25 games from 2011.  They were playing Arizona State early in the season.  What I took away from the game is that Mizzou does not have a great offensive line.  Bama will be all over their QB.
13178  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Alabama will repeat as national champions on: July 10, 2012, 08:35:26 AM
Alabama wins with defense. We lost our 6 best defensive players, including 3 LB's & 3 DB's. Hard to replace 2 and 3 year starters with someone from special teams or high school. I just can't see us overcoming such losses.

 Tinfoil Hat
Bama still has one of the best teams in the SEC.  I think it will come down to the LSU game.  No way the powers-that-be let another Bama v. LSU championship game happen.

LSU returns a great defense.  The question is their offense.  They will have to pass more, and better, to have a chance against Alabama, because Bama's offense will be improved, even without MFBATR.

In order to fit the National Championship mold the remaining 47 teams would have had to allow less than 27.5 ppg last year. This category would eliminate eight teams as Baylor (37.2), Toledo (31.7), Northern Illinois (30.3), Louisiana (29.Cool, Clemson (29.3), Auburn (28.9), Kansas St (27.9) and Wyoming (27.Cool all allowed more than 27.5 ppg last year.
13180  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: "Notre Dame confirms Orange Bowl discussions with ACC" on: July 10, 2012, 08:20:15 AM
If it's between ND and the Big East, the Orange Bowl with choose ND.
13181  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: "What happens to coaches poll when football playoffs begin?" on: July 09, 2012, 10:55:04 AM

I would rather have a committee picking four teams than the polls/computers picking two.
I agree.  More chances for the SEC not to get left out, and with the SEC in the playoff, other conferences should continue to lose.

The coaches' poll is a joke, and it was a joke to use it in the BCS formula.  SEC schools last year had LSU and Bama 1 and 2, Big12 schools (except TA&M and Mizzou) had LSU 1, OKst 2 and Bama around 6.  Many coaches admit being too busy coaching to fill out their polls themselves, and they only know the teams they play against.  And the AP poll has terrible bias, always overrating OK, ND, USC and other schools outside of the SEC, and failing to consider strength of schedule for the little guys.  These differences might not disappear with a committee, and we likely still will have teams crying foul, but 4 is still better than 2 for the SEC.
13182  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: "Ten most exciting playmakers in college football" on: July 09, 2012, 10:45:34 AM
Alabama 31
Michigan 17

 Cheesy

I wouldn't give Michigan even 17.  More like 35 to 0.  Michigan managed maybe 160 yards of offense in the Sugar Bowl against VT's defense.
13183  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: "Tide and Tiger commits win 7-on-7 tournament together at The Opening" on: July 09, 2012, 08:50:35 AM
Bateman may be too good, and needed, to keep that red shirt on him this season.
13184  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: "Ten most exciting playmakers in college football" on: July 09, 2012, 08:18:08 AM
Bama wins easily against Michigan precisely because of Mr #2 Excitement.  Robinson was under 50% completion ratio is 6 games last year, and he is not tall enough to effectively find passing lanes.  Without a passing lane, he pretty much shot put the football last year to his receivers, the best of which has graduated.  While Michigan's OL is pretty good, containing Robinson, and having a LB key on the run, should keep Michigan behind the 50 yard line for most of the game.

Still, the list looks pretty lame to me.  The Honey Badger?
13185  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Top recruit:Take my teammate on: July 07, 2012, 09:50:51 AM
We knew it was happening, though it is surprising to see this guy being so public with his demands.  He sounds like a character issue -- all the hype has gone to his head -- and Bama is probably better off without him.  Saban isn't going to engage in this type of deal-making; he has more talented guys wanting to come to Bama than he has spots for already.  While this safety teammate seems credible, coaches who engage in this type of dealmaking do so at their own risk.
