RT @kleph: for those of you still wondering about the status of duron carter... he's nowhere to be found in the 2012 Alabama media guide.

Here is my surprised face:

By a lone gunman with a small cal automatic rifle.

Later I will give MD and WV a reason to re-bond. Because you know where i am going with this.
What?  If more people in the bar had guns, this wouldn't have happened...

Right, there would have been gunfire in all directions.
[/b]

Wrong. Gunfire would have been fired at one direction, at the guy with the rifle, since I am not aware of too many people in bars with rifles. People are not stupid and can figure things out pretty fast.

Gunfire would come from one direction if the other people were line up like a firing squad. If people were scattered about the place and all had guns, the chance of bystander victims is high.

Still probably would have been less than 17 innocent victims.  Maybe 3 or 4 and a thug with 17 holes in him.
Could be, although people drinking in bars with guns is a scary proposition.

Nice.  I especially like the pronunciation guide -- if only Vern would read it!

I've been watching ESPNU's "25 Greatest Games of 2011."  Last night was Michigan v. ND and TCU v. Baylor.  The TCU Baylor game looked like a basketball score, and the Michigan ND game similar, last one with the football wins.  I think we can contain Robinson and shut down the Michigan offense.
13161  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: "Reuben Foster talks Alabama, Auburn and official visits" on: July 13, 2012, 03:14:37 PM
Come on guys.  Trent Richardson has two children, ages 5 and 3, and he's only 21.

When a guy chooses another school, he's not worth talking about, good or bad.  That's what Auburn fans do.

Throwback uniforms to the 70s.  I guess I don't hate them.

So Arky has it virtually won.  Now there's only the matter of playing some football.
13164  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Poll: Subject matter of Reuben Foster's presser on: July 12, 2012, 09:05:42 AM
Ham sammich vote here.

We need 25 signees that want to play for Alabama. They need to be committed, have a good attitude and good character traits. I have full confidence that CNS and staff will bring in a top 5 class with or without him.

I quit worrying about recruiting a couple of years ago. This is just part of the process.

Not to be picky, but when did Saban win 2 SEC titles at Alabama?

 Huh?
Applause E-Cred  Maybe he meant two championship games?   Undecided
13166  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: "Don't blame Nkemdiche for throwing his weight around at Clemson" on: July 11, 2012, 10:14:03 AM
To me, this is no different than paying top draft picks millions of dollars before they ever play a down in the NFL. It's absolutely crazy to give new employees the equivalent of a CEO salary on their first day on the job. In the real business world, most employees start at the bottom with a low-level salary and work their way up. Sports is exactly the opposite. And Nkemdiche doesn't have the right to make demands when he hasn't proven himself. He's just another freshmen as far as I'm concerned.
It's more like the CEO hiring his son as his second (at an enormous salary).  Makes everyone else feel unworthy.
Yep. I'm not sure the business world is any different.  Most CEOs didn't start in the mail room.
13167  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: What Non Conference School Would You Like To See Alabama Play? on: July 11, 2012, 08:17:17 AM
I'd like to see any of them play our SEC schedule!

ND, if I have to answer the question.
Rising to the challenge every Saturday is much more difficult than an occasionally big non-conference game or bowl appearance. The mental focus is hard to maintain and the physical exertion coupled with the injuries (both season ending and the persistant, nagging type) tests a team's metal.  Watch how these schools have a drop-off in performance in the week following a so-called "big game".
You mean, like Oklahoma State?  (Played at Lubbock then Ames, Iowa last year.)   Laughing

Nick Saban figures there's one certainty about the new college football playoff scenario.

There will be "a two-hour ESPN show on who got left out," he said.

That aside, Saban expressed his satisfaction with the playoff system in a brief media session Tuesday night prior to his speech at the Boys & Girls Club Leaders & Legends Dinner at the Von Braun Center.

"In 1997, I said we should have a plus-one or a four-team playoff because most of the years there are issues, it's when there are three (qualified) teams," he said. "People can't agree on who should be 1 and 2 and should play, and who gets left out. It happened when I was at LSU in 2003 and Southern Cal got left out." ...
Laughing

I think Nick is happy with the system for exactly the reasons stated -- sometimes there are three deserving teams.  (The small schools would claim 4, but I'm not counting those guys.)
13169  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Top junior prospect Bo Scarbrough set to announce commitment on: July 11, 2012, 08:12:35 AM
He ends up playing LB or WR if I have to guess.
I'd keep him on offense, the way he can run and break tackles.  WR or RB.

I didn't see any highlights of him on D anyhow.  Best news is he looks like an improved Deuce McAllister (Ole Miss; New Orleans Saints).  Deuce was a WR in high school, but became a 1st-round draft pick as a RB with great hands.  Any RB who can catch like a WR, break tackles like TR, and run like a deer is a rare, special talent.

Gotta be the best talent coming out of Alabama since Julio.
Yeah, his film is as a RB and slot receiver.  Usually the players who end up on D are the ones without the hands, and this guy has it all.
