Title: Early grand slam powers No. 4 Alabama softball past Ole Miss
Post by: Jamos on March 06, 2015, 10:02:35 PM
It started fast and could have been worse.

No. 4 Alabama took its SEC softball opener 6-0 over Ole Miss with a big pitching performance and some early power. Freshman Alexis Osorio struck out 11 while allowing just two hits to earn the shutout win.

It was another cold night for softball but the ladies did what they needed to do to earn a win over the Rebs. Bama is doing some good things as a team right now but they have one thorn in their side and that is LOBs, runners left on base. The hitters have got to work on their hitting/bunting when there are runners on base. I'm sure CPM will get this straightened out but their schedule only gets tougher and these LOBs are going to cost them big time against the better teams in the SEC.

The bright spot for the team has been the pitching as Alexis Osorio threw another good game tonight. Leslie Jury pitched what I think was her best game ever at Alabama last week against South Alabama and if she can continue that, it will only enhance Bama's chances of making it back to Oklahoma City. Littlejohn is their lead pitcher and has been solid all season.

Maybe the weather has had some effect on the things that they aren't doing so well and as the weather levels out, the team will perform at the level they are very capable of doing.

RTR!!!
