Title: NIT
Post by: pmull on March 12, 2017, 10:56:25 AM
I think it is safe bet that we will not make the NCAA field of 68 teams. I do think we are a solid NIT team. I think we will even get a first round home game.

The link below is to NIT Bracketology produced by NYC Buckets. They have us as a three (3) seed. In this scenario we will host Ohio State in the first round.

Quote
1. Syracuse
8. Oakland
4. UT Arlington
5. Colorado St.
3. Alabama
6. Ohio St.
2. TCU
7. Belmont

An Ohio State/Alabama game would be very interesting, if it happens.

OSU and Alabama would only happen in the Championship for that area wouldn't it? RTR!

If we get by Richmond we most likely get a re-match with Clemson. They beat us in Tuscaloosa early in the season.

We play Tuesday at 8:15.

Two days after the Tigers fell to Missouri in the opening round of the 2017 SEC Tournament, head coach Bruce Pearl announced Friday his team will only accept a bid to the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) and not the College Basketball Invitational (CBI).

There must be a mistake in the bracket.  I see powerhouses like UNCG (whoever that is), UC Irvine, South Dakota, and CSU Bakersfield (whoever that is), but I can't find Awbren on there anywhere.  :dunno:

During the Kentucky game Saturday Dick Vitale kept rambling on and on about how Bruce Pearl would get the job done at Auburn, just give him 3 or 4 years to turn things around.  Well, maybe someone should have slipped ol' diaper dandy a note to tell him this latest Awbren masterpiece was year 3 for Pearl.  :lol2:

They were not even on the NIT bubble.  :lol3:

Some of these teams are automatic qualifiers for the NIT by virtue of being regular season champs of their conference but failing to win their conference tournament.

Bama is in a decent bracket, but would face Clemson in the second round @ Clemson, and red hot Iowa is No. 1 seed in that bracket.

Bruce Pearl's earlier statement showed a total lack of class.  Hey Bruce, wait until after the NIT selection before you try and bolster your loser team.

A loser coach with a loser team, living in a loser town. Sometimes life is good.  8)

If BAMA continues their level of play from the SEC tournament into the NIT they should do well.

One caveat:

Free throws.

Got to make free throws.

That 6 1/2 minute scoring drought in the second half and missing free throws down the stretch sunk the boat against UK.

I am even more confident in this team now.

The Ark v. UK game was a game in name only.

I agree with the above. If we mad FT's against Kentucky we would be in the Big Dance. RTR!

Someone setting up a Bracket Challenge?

We used the CBS Challenge last time. I'm already in under this link. Hopefully, it will take you to the right place.

I thought we used the ESPN site for our brackets. I'm confused.

I received an e-mail from CBS and when I clicked on it, it was set up for CRS. But thinking back, it may have been ESPN. Pmull will know.

No doubt we have used both CBS and ESPN over the years, as I have IDs and emails from both.  Most recent was ESPN I think.

If we get by Richmond we most likely get a re-match with Clemson. They beat us in Tuscaloosa early in the season.

We play Tuesday at 8:15.

The game with Clemson was played in Birmingham and they beat us pretty bad.

I don't see a group for us under the CBS brackets. I filled out an individual bracket.
