I like this coach's philosophy. And he is absolutely right. All this drama could be avoided if kids could sign a LOI when they make up their mind. Good for this coach teaching his kids to stand by their committments.
BUT, coaches are still switching jobs too. Certainly part of the decision on which school to attend depends on the coaches. I think players should be able to change their commitments under certain circumstances. For instance, one rule should be, "Any commitment to a land-grant institution in the state of Alabama is allowed to switch his commitment just as soon as he realizes how stupid said commitment would be." I nominate you for chair pf the CRS legislative action committee

This thread is right on target. Back in the day these things were all in warm and interesting places, and the teams had winning records which made them worth seeing for non-partsans and fans alike. They were also worth watching on TV. So the local and TV revenue made them good business. Now there are just too many, and only the old venerable ones are worth going to or watching on TV. I bet if the NCAA allowed a winter practice period whether you were bowl bound or not, teams would start declining offers to cheesy bowls.

It's easy to understand how a university loses money, they blow it. The university treats a bowl game as an expense-paid vacation for everyone. Administrators (Dean's, AD personnel, Department Heads, politicians, and friends of the President), their wives (maybe even kids), boosters and their wives, get free ride on our dime. Any money the university or sports teams make, belongs to the taxpayers of Alabama, not the univeristy and its cronies. Don't let those minor issues distract you from the pernicious and fundemnetal evil of school teachers accepting Christmas cookies from their students.

He may feel that he needs to win without Moore in order to establish his credibility as a championship caliber coach. As for the PSU job, the whole program is radioactive and that will takes years to go away. Nevertheless, though JoPa is discredited persoanally his successor must still cope with replacing the winningest coach in CFB history. The ideal candidate for this job would be another legend whose imprimature would start the reputational healing process, keep recruiting going, and win ball games. Don't laugh, but I'm thinking about a Bobby Bowden type. Ultimately they will have to settle for a lesser known outsider who will not have the weight to change the orbit of the PSU program

Around Campus / The Quad / Any word on young Mr Sims' shoulder?

I saw several days ago a report that Phil Sims had a shoulder issue. Anyone know the latest on that? I'd rather not go into the BCS game without our buqb ready to go. Ask Texas how it worked even when they had their backup.

Well thank you comrades. Things were okay there. There are a couple of guys who act like adolescent girls but otherwise not bad. I left, though, when they started running down some of the players personally. I can't abide that.
