NCAA Comments About Penn State and Death Penalty

Wow! I think the overwhelming media pressure is getting to the NCAA. I don't think they get the death penalty, but something substantial will happen.

Emmert said he's "never seen anything as egregious as this in terms of just overall conduct and behavior inside a university." He added, "What the appropriate penalties are, if there are determinations of violations, we'll have to decide."

"This is completely different than an impermissible benefits scandal like (what) happened at SMU, or anything else we've dealt with. This is as systemic a cultural problem as it is a football problem. There have been people that said this wasn't a football scandal," Emmert said.

"Well, it was more than a football scandal, much more than a football scandal. It was that but much more. And we'll have to figure out exactly what the right penalties are. I don't know that past precedent makes particularly good sense in this case, because it's really an unprecedented problem."

I've been watching to see what he would say or do and from this
statement it is pretty clear they will penalize them severely  
wonder what an unprecedented  NCAA plenty will be like ?

Agreed. Emmert's comments are somewhat confusing. He says he's never seen anything as bad as this, which sounds like the death penalty, but I won't believe it until I see it. This puts REAL pressure on Penn State to do some major actions to appease the NCAA and minimize any punishment. First, get rid of the Paterno statue and some BOT members will have to resign. This will be relayed to Penn State when the NCAA talks to them (off the record) about the situation. The clock is ticking on Penn State and right now they seem like a deer in a spotlight, frozen and not moving in any direction.

Not to make light of a serious matter, but if the Hindenburg was not a blimp, but rather a paragraph in an official document, that paragraph would be question #3 in this letter.

the banner planes for almost no pay in some cases
a money maker it would seem ...

when I win the lotto I'm hiring the banner planes

The letter was dated November 2011 and even then the NCAA did not sound very happy. Since then, everything has gone to crap for Penn State. It is not looking good for PSU right now.

I still think the students and alumni should have the final say of whether the statue stays or comes down.  I feel it should stay because even after it would be taken down the PSU hate-mongers would just move on to another and another and another subject to hate at Penn State.  I'm tired of it all and I for one am not apologizing  anymore.  All of you that hate us, so be it.  I'm not reading any more of your garbage.  As for the report by the Ex-FBI leader.  Try reading about all of his terrible mistakes while leading the FBI.  What about all of those children that he ordered killed in Waco, TX.  You think he was qualified to investigate Penn State - what a joke!  I hope you all have a great time trying to ruin our university, but I for one won't be reading one more word that you post.

Rumor has it, "ESPN" paid for the plane and banner. They wanted to continue their all out assault on PSU. Helps ratings and sells advertisement.

That's fine, we just won't release the name of the person who sabotages his plane in the future.

So where is the outrage in the threatning tone of the flyover. In this day and age we should be demanding someone be shown you don;t mess around threatning the safety of 40,000 people on the PSU campus.

think the statue should stay. Whether he covered stuff up or not we will never know for sure. (I don't care what a report says) But he did help make Penn State the well known school that it is today. Leave it up, people don't like it then don't look at it!

Joe's millions were mostly given back to the students and the university.  He lived in a modest house and never acted like he thought he was anything special.  That is why people are (still) defending his character.  When someone acts like that day in and day out for decades, it's hard to believe (with no real evidence) that he did anything to warrent the posthumous attacks.  He can't defend himself anymore.
