Title: Auburn arrives safely for Birmingham Bowl
Post by: pmull on December 27, 2015, 09:21:19 AM
A crowd of approximately 53 Auburn fans got a big scare at the Birmingham Shuttlesworth Airport. They were there to meet the team as they arrived for their marque Birmingham Bowl match up with Memphis. It turned out to be a misunderstanding as the team safely arrived at the 3rd Avenue South Greyhound Bus Station several hours earlier. Bowl officials arranged discounted fares for Birmingham Transit Authority bus rides to the Econo Lodge in Ensley where the team would be staying.

Auburn will be practicing this week at the Parker High School Athletic Complex. Due to the rain they had to move inside to Parker's indoor practice facility basketball gym. The Auburn equipment still has not arrived because the trailer used to haul the football equipment was delayed by a cattle auction in Montgomery and was late returning to campus to be loaded.

Bowl festivities are scheduled all week and the players are in for a treat. On Sunday afternoon both teams will meet at East Lake Park for a picnic. The highlight of the week will be the trip to Vulcan. Extra security has been arranged to guard the valuables at the gift shop. The Auburn players were disappointed to find out the trip to the Birmingham Zoo will not take place this year. The trip was canceled once they learned Auburn would be one of the teams due to concern for the safety of the animals.

Bowl week in the Football Capital of the South is one the Auburn players will never forget. Add your ideas for things the team can do while in Birmingham.

I heard a rumor that Jamos is getting a group together for the game and some Auburn commits are going to be at the game, too. Supposedly, Jamos will have the SEC Chief of Officials with him and 5 new Dodge Chargers. Anyone else heard this?

Only the best hotel with adjoining Sears will do for Gus Malzahn’s brave warriors of the gridiron on such an important bowl trip. (Memphis is staying at the Sheraton, where they won’t be anywhere near a Subway. HA, SUCK IT AAC CONFERENCE! WDE!)

With this in mind we’ve custom made our guide to help you get the most out of the Galleria and Arkadelphia Road, home to Legion Field.

If you do feel like venturing out from the mall other options include:

– Going to the Vulcan and looking at a metal butt.

– Going to Dreamland and meditating on how quickly a corporation can ruin a great restaurant.

– Attending a city council meeting / MMA match.

– Watching an innocent child lose their will to live while riding in a car on I-65.

This article is full of win!  :lol2:

Game day for Auburn has arrived. The early start means they will wake up early and go to the lobby and enjoy the free breakfast of donuts, coffee and Tang Orange Drink. They will then pack their bags and leave them at the first desk to be picked up after the game so they will not be charged another nights stay. They will walk to the nearby bus stop to catch a ride to the stadium. Bowl officials have negotiated discount bus fares. They will be dropped off at the stadium where 25-30 fans are planning a Tiger Walk into historic Legion Field.

Auburn is a slight favorite in the game because they have a build in advantage because they are conditioned for 11:00 starts since that is their normal game time for meaningless conference games.

The game is expected to drop a .0008 TV rating with two mediocre teams and most people at work. Enjoy the game!

Auburn capped off a very successful season with a dominating 31-10 win against tradition rich Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl. The win gives the Tigers a 7-6 record and runs their string of winning seasons to 3. More importantly they beat a team, that beat a team, that beat Alabama. That is proof the Tigers deserved to be playing in the playoffs instead of their cross state rival. Auburn would have beaten Alabama if the refs had not allowed Alabama to hold on every play.

The Tigers future looks very good. Both QB's will not enter the NFL draft and return to play next season. A new defensive coordinator will only improve one of the nations best defenses. There is optimism all over campus that Malzahn can have another 7-6 season and run the streak to 4 in a row.

How did Michigan State make the playoffs? They would be the worst team in the SEC West. I wish Bama would have had to play a real team with a chance to beat them like Memphis.
