A screen pass here. A dump-down there.

Maybe the occasional slant.

That was the Alabama passing attack Saturday against Penn State. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban used the words “nickel” and “dime” to describe the methodical offensive approach for the decisive 27-11 win.

Regardless of the status at quarterback, the auditions at receiver appeared to continue another week with two key figures still watching instead of playing.

Six of the first seven AJ McCarron passes thrown went to a different player in State College with senior Marquis Maze the only to double dip. His leaping 29-yarder on the first of three touchdown drives was the longest pass play of the day.

I enjoyed watching Bama use the "nickel" and "dime" attack, this will only make the long threat a better weapon in the games to come.  Wink

I'm still waiting for the wildcat (and the rare wildcat pass).

I think you'll see this when Bama runs into these better defenses, LSU etc..

Hey, at least Williams learned to catch the ball with his hands.  Enjoyed him proving us wrong.

Yep, good to see Williams catch the ball, a much needed weapon.

And where is that wildcat?  Ingram ran it mostly last year.  Maze for the pass play, but not a big threat on the inside run.  Richardson ran it a bit last year too, but without any great results that I can recall.  Either it has been shelved now that Ingram is gone, or it is being saved for other situations and/or defenses.  I still think Blake Sims is the most likely candidate, but then I don't watch the practices.

I think we'll see quarters and 50 cent pieces this weekend.

I don't think we will see any of our good sets till we run into our SEC schedule espically Ark. who always gives us a good game. Also, I hate Vandy who is usually a needle in our side also they somehow play us better than they play anybody. RTR!
