Good morning.

Looks like someone invited Chaac to graduation at Ole Miss.  Heavy rain coming this morning!  You know what that means; I'm not going!

Sad new today from Oxford: Click here for link

... Byrd and his passengers were headed to Oxford to attend the Saturday graduation of his youngest son, Robert Byrd, from the University of Mississippi in Oxford...

Not quite but they were two good fish. One weighed 5.5 lbs and the other weighed 5-11 lbs per my scales. I caught them right at the crack of day about 10 minutes apart using a buzz bait. It was the first time that I had used the buzz bait in a very long time. Back when I fished tournaments, I used the bait religiously but for some reason I had laid it down. There are so many new lures out there now that I guess I had found them to be better. By the way I did release the fish, I might need them if I ever fish another tournament there.

Very sad, indeed. What a tragedy!  Sad

J, those are some nice looking fish you caught. I bet they tasted good, too.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday!

No I released them. I think I might go to the driving range this morning and hack at a few, it's been a long time since I picked up a golf club.

The way I've been playing, you'd think I have never picked up a golf club. With company present, I'm taking the weekend off from golf. Maybe that will help.

I fished buzz baits a lot when I lived in Louisiana.  They climb right over snags and work well in shallows.  When the fish strike, they EXPLODE on the lure!  Lots of fun.  But in all of my years, I never caught one over 5 lbs on a buzz bait.

Morning gents. For the first time in weeks, it looks like a lazy Saturday at la casa de cbbama. Very little to have to do today, which is nice for a change. Hope the weather holds off for you guys down in God's country, and my prayers for the family going to Ole Miss. May the fish and the golfs be with you.

On the tournament trail they always bragged about the buzz bait being the big fish lure. There were some fishermen that had them in all sizes starting at the tiny 1/4 ounce with a small blade up to 1/2 ounce with a blade that looked like it was big enough to use for the prop on the boat motor. It was always fun to sit around with a group of fishermen after a day on the water and listen to the TALL tales from that day of fishing. Especially after they had indulged in a few cold brews.

I've tried the tiny ones, but their propellers won't turn consistently.
And I've never seen any REALLY big.
One thing nice about your story herein; even a tall brew can't diminish the fish in that photo.  E-cred for the fish, another for the story, and a 3rd for releasing them!

It's easier than keeping Chech in line. My best to LF!
