Spurrier quotes. Some good 'uns.  :lol2:

Quote
Jabbing at Tennessee ...

On Tennessee missing out on the Sugar Bowl during his Florida years: "You can't spell Citrus without U-T."

On Peyton Manning: "I know why Peyton came back for his senior year. He wanted to be a three-time star of the Citrus Bowl."

But I don't think those were the quotes CNS referred to when he said, "It probably needed to be said."

He picked on Saban, too. But his best was picking on Dabo. He could get under Dabo's skin like nobody's business.

True dat.
Dabo flew off the handle this week when asked about "Clemsoning".  Too bad Spurrier couldn't get a last jab for that.

Spurrier was one of the best coaches ever in the SEC and college football. I liked him and his smart mouth but I understand why many people did not.

He was a great player and coach. I wish him the best.

Somebody will snatch Spurrier up and put him in the booth, or maybe he can take Lou's place and spar with Mark May. He's too talented to let him just ride off into the golf sunset.

I liked him too.  Many did NOT.  Maybe it was his smart-alecky cracks, maybe jealousy over his success, maybe his picking on rival coaches, maybe that he ran up scores on lesser opponents while at Florida, maybe ...

Get it?   :lol2:

I couldn't stand him when he was at UF.  At USCe though I liked him just fine...

Hated for BAMA to play against him.  Always liked him as a coach.

Some monumental games.

6 SEC titles

Only other coach, Bear was first, that has a winning record at multiple SEC schools.

$1 says, some alum/donor talked crap and HBC exercised the termination clause in his contract.

I was talking to a co-worker a while ago and he said that at the end of the game against LSU there was an open mic that picked up a comment by Les about hoping he gets well or something like that to indicate that there may be a health issue going on... Hope not but at his age it is not out of the realm of possibility...

I like my story better.

The only reason i didn't like Spurrier was because he coached at Fla and was beating Alabama and then his mouth. Now, let me bring something to your attention, one of the reporters interviewed him when he was at Washington and they ask him why he had a Bible on his desk all the time? He said cause he needed to read it more often than anything else and I can not find that interview yet but I will keep looking. RTR!
