So it appears that it's official. Meyer agreed for 7 yrs, $40 million. I lost some respect for Meyer beacuse he said he wanted to spend time with his family and get his health right. One year is not much of a layoff. Also, OSU is about to get hammered by the NCAA. Why would he go to a school in purgatory? I don't get it. I do hope Bama gets to play them in a bowl before Saban retires though. That would be hilarious, because Meyer left the SEC to get away from Saban. Ha.

I believe Meyer is from Ohio.

That is a lot of money.$40 million for 7 years.

He will have extra time to turn things around because of the sanctions.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke is turning the Wolverines around so he has to beat them.

Penn State will be down for years.

tOSU canceled the home and home with Florida.

Michigan State is better but still State. Wisconsin is about as good as they are going to get.

Nebraska with Bo Pelini is not killing it.

BIG 10 is a lot easier conference to win ten games a year than the SEC.

Suits him.

Meyer is a good coach but he was not willing to put in the effort it takes to keep a program on top in the SEC. The bottom line is Coach Saban made his azz quit.

Meyer stepped down as Florida's head coach in 2010 citing health concerns, but told the Gainesville Sun on Monday that he felt strong enough mentally and physically to make a return to coaching.

Especially if he is not in a conference with CNS.

That's the million dollar question. The NCAA is going to kill OSU with at least the loss of 25 scholarship, probation, and anthing else they can think of. Plus, Meyer is going to find out he won't be able to recruit all those 4 & 5 star skill players like he could at Florida. He probably thinks he can come down to Florida and bring a load of talent out of Florida. It won't happen. On the plus side, he can rebuild while facing such football "giants" as Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, a severely wounded Penn State, plus a cream puff nonconference schedule to get an easy 7-8 wins.

He is still denying everything.  I guess it won't be "official" until after the last game.

I would think his denying the deal is so that Coach Fickell can go through last game and not be worrying. We shall see at the end. I know CNS denied the Alabama job till it was announced. He didn't want to interrupt the season going on. RTR!

Will Urban have success at OSU?

1. Yes he will turn them into a contender again, at least until they play an SEC team.
2. No, he will coach for 3 years and then quit again, citing health issues.
3. Turkey sammich. (In honor of the holiday)

If I had to pick a dog that most resembles Urban Meyer, it would be a weiner dog.  (Although that may be an insult to weiner dogs).

He bails on the SEC when he realizes that he does not have the talent on his team to compete with the likes of Bama (or perhaps LSU even with Les Miles coaching), once Tebow departed.  Yet he returns one year later to an easier conference to be the top dog.

he isn't a Offensive genius but he had one on staff  at Bowling Green , Utah and then Florida
and good Defensive coordinator too , throw the #1 QB in at Utah and another one at Florida
whamo - he is a star .

the new Coach a Michigan is doing pretty good so that might be a problem
but as we all know , pedo U won't be a factor for awhile so he is set
except for the bowl games , then he has to worry if it's a SEC team .

if he can round up another top staff he might be alright
then he has the ncaa sentence to fall back on just in case
I can't wait to see how the gator fan base reacts
just another day or will they burn him in effigy
he is 104-23 so tOSU thinks they got the end all , we will see .

wonder if they will start calling him "The Urban Myer" ?

He does have a built in excuse if he can't win.

It's like he can continue his sabatical from coaching, or at least take some time to warm back up to the idea, yet collect the king's ransom.
