Just received the following email from one of my brothers in law. ( The cool one of the two yankee ones). I think this pretty well sums it up.

Quote
> Why be armed with a gun-By Maj. L. Caudell, USMC (Ret.)
> >

> >
> >As the Supreme Court heard arguments for and against the Chicago gun ban,
> >this Marine offered a letter that places the proper perspective on what a
> >gun means to a civilized society.
> >
> >Interesting take and one you don't hear much. . . . .
> >Read this eloquent and profound letter and pay close attention to the last
> >paragraph of the letter.
> >
> >Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force.
> >If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either
> >convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of
> >force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories,
> >without exception. Reason or force, that's it.
> >
> >In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through
> >persuasion.
> >Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction and the only
> >thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as
> >paradoxical as it may sound to some.
> >
> >When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason
> >and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or
> >employment of force.
> >
> >The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal
> >footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with
> >a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload
> >of drunken guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in
> >physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a
> >defender.
> >
> >There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force

> >[armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's
> >potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative
> >fiat--it has no validity when mostof a mugger's potential marks are armed.
> >
> >People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the

> >
> >People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal
> >force, watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with
> >a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works
> >solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both
> >are armed, the field is level.
> >
> >The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian

> >a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.
> >
> >When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but
> >because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot

Countless scores of men have died for your right to make this most personal decision. I hope to grow old never firing a shot in anger.

recently gun sales have skyrocketed in South Alabama according to
the news stations , pistol permit numbers and gun shops .
Between January 1 and February 28 2010, 1,066 pistol permits were issued.
During the same time frame in 2011, 5,465 permits were issued.

as a reference , I was working a wreck in downtown Mobile
it was raining pretty hard and the wreck was in a fairly sharp curve of
a four lane street .
we heard tires sliding and looked to see a Ford van skidding sideways in
the curve. the back wheels of the van hit the curb and the van flipped .
the older black gentleman that was driving the van just didn't see the
emergency / police vehicles  in time and panicked losing control of the van .

a couple MPD officers went over to the old guy to see if he was alright .
he was fine , but as they helped him out of the van they noticed a
pistol in the door compartment . one of the officers ask the man for
his pistol permit and he replied "I don't have one"
the office told him he should have one or he was breaking the law
that's when the solid gold answer came from the old guy ...

he said and I quote ...
"yes sir officer I know I should but I don't , but it's like this , I never got a permit
but I would rather ya'll catch me with the gun than these other MF'ers out here catch me without it"

this is the wal-marks I shop at , my wife shops at
my oldest daughter was in there last night with my grandson
my wife and myself were there tonight and did about an hour of shopping

then tonight I see this on the news ... Click here for link

this is the same wal-marks , (a mile from my house where it is located)
if you want to see how people feel about carrying a gun ?
READ THE COMMENTS ... is this what it's coming to ?

not long ago , just down the street from the wal-marks ,
there was a citizen that shot and killed one of these gangsters .
why ?
the gangster was shooting at him first after he stole something from the citizen , also
the gangster was shooting at innocent people going in the store next door ... (even shot at a woman too)

they come out here from the projects to rob , steal and kill ...
but this time it cost one of them his life ...

what would you do ?

Mobile Is at the point of no return. I lived in Mobile two years and Mobile is such a beautiful city but it has so much crime. Im from Birmingham and I never knew Mobile was so bad. I moved my family from that crime zone dump called Mobile and we went back home to Birmingham. The crime in Birmingham is not as bad as mobile. The crime in New Orleans and ATL aint bad as Mobile. Yall got some major problems in Mobile. Crime can take place anywhere, but Mobile is the new compton california. Things will never change until yall get Fred Williamson, The Cheif and Mayor Mooon PIe out of office. Its world war 3 down there in Mobile. I feel sorry for all the residents that are stuck in a 30 year mortgage.
