NCAA investigators spent a large chunk of Sunday with Johnny Manziel, questioning the Texas A&M quarterback about allegations from memorabilia dealers that he accepted payments for autographs, a source familiar with the investigation told ESPN.com on Monday night.

The governing body's officials met Sunday with Manziel, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, for nearly six hours on the College Station, Texas, campus, the source said. It was unclear whether the NCAA was satisfied with the initial meeting with Manziel or if it would require additional time with the redshirt sophomore....

Wow, six hours. There must be a lot involved to have discussed something for this lenght of time. Knowing the NCAA and their past investigations, I have the feeling they are stradling a fence and don't know how to or are afraid of how to handle this.

Having watched Manziel all summer and his antics, I would say that he probably has a very good chance of beating the system.

Perhaps they put a pile of paperwork on the table: transcripts documenting cell-phone and text messages.  Then they went through each one, asking him what each one meant.  Perhaps most of the time he said, "No memory of that one."

Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp said he is "certain Manziel is innocent".

After NCAA visit (Thursday):
Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp:  "The American way to presume innocence," he said. "Not all agencies do it that way, but I think most Americans, if you ask them about what justice means, it says we believe you're innocent until something comes along that proves otherwise, and I think we owe Johnny that much anyway."
