Hopefully we won't regret this.  Also, need that 14th team soon.

Well I am getting more and more vibes that Missouri might be next although I thought Clemson for a long time but now they are built for the ACC challenge so I don't think they come over here and start taking a beating regular. RTR!

We need to order some beef, to gain some  qulity SEC weight, not fatten up the conference  with a bunch of "soft serve vanilla, with extra cherries and no nuts" ice cream.

BTW aTm will have the best recruiting line for any kid in Tejas, now.

:Look kid, you can come here, play SEC ball, and never leave the Great State of Tjas." Kids will fall for this.

Problem with that, R, is that there are no quality teams outside of the SEC.  :)

You're not suggesting the SEC add the powerhouse Notre Dame? :nah:

No, but I don't like adding teams just to add teams. Oklahoma, Clemson, Miami, FSU, would be better than what we are doing. I know they are just trying to look at form a TV market / revenue $$$ standpoint, but c'mon...aTm / Mizzu? Do you guys realize aTm doesn't even have any female cheerleaders???

Come on... Mizzu almost beat the Sooners. They at least dropped them a spot or two in the polls. :D

The more outsiders that join the SEC, the more we'll see these new "SEC" teams losing games to other conferences and damaging our reputation.

So what will we be, the SEWMC = Southeastern Western Midwestern Conference?

Other than Bama and LSU, Missouri can beat any of the other teams in the SEC this year. I don't see anything too pansy about them.

They would be a middle of the road SEC team at best, ever.  Might be competition for Georgia in its current configuration.  Probably would beat Ole Miss, KY, Vandy, Auburn (well, that is a plus).  Losses to Bama, LSU, probably Florida and SC.  Give Arky, MSU, Tennessee a good game.

In short, nothing to get excited about.

I realize that its about "Show me the money!" ... BUT ... I think "the money" has at least as much to do with the product on the field as it does with adding additional geographic TV markets.  And I'm concerned about whether the powers-that-be get that.

Who wouldn't want to see a Virginia Tech or Florida State duke it out in the SEC?  What kind of national TV revenue would a game like LSU or Bama v. those teams generate?  I'm thinking more money than Missouri v. Kentucky, who would even watch that?

Cecil Hurt says adding Aggies great but unnecessary.  If it ain't broke don't fix it.  He hopes they don't mess it up.

I hear what you guys are saying about aTm.  Yes they have historically been mediocre at best.  But... after 5 years in the SEC, they will be a force to contend with in my opinion.  They will have a huge recruiting advantage over all of the other Texas schools, and there is a lot of talent in Texas.  I can see them being in the top 3 in the west on a regular basis.  They will have to shed that Big 12 mentality of trying to outscore your opponents and win games 49-45 though, and start playing some defense.  Otherwise they will be like the other SEC bottom feeders that don't play defense and leave it all up to the offense (Miss State and Auburn come to mind this year).  I also think there will be a good rivalry between them and LSU and Arkansas, and those 2 schools need another thorn to smack them down a little.  So I think aTm is probably a good move.  JMHO.

I agree that, overall, they are a good addition.  My only concern is the 13 team league and what plans are in place for #14.
