Title: Spring signing period begins quietly at Alabama, but it could end with a bang
Post by: pmull on April 14, 2011, 08:32:44 AM
TUSCALOOSA -- It's all or nothing this spring in basketball recruiting at Alabama. Either Anthony Grant will sign Parade All-American guard Trevor Lacey or the Crimson Tide coach probably will add no players to the four he signed in November.

Lacey, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, averaged 31.3 points per game this season in leading Butler High School in Huntsville to its third state championship in the past four years.

The second two-time "Mr. Basketball" in state history has made his choice but will not reveal it until he signs later this month. His list includes Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Kansas and Connecticut. Insiders predict he will sign with Alabama or Kentucky.

I sure hope we get him. We need a shooting guard so bad. He would be a help from the get go to us in playing time I would think. RTR!

It sounds like the girls have a pretty good class coming in too.

Alabama athlectics as a whole are improving. You have to give Mal Moore credit for hiring the right coaches and improving the facilities.

I haven't been paying attention to the women's program.  Is their coach fairly new too?

Well if we keep growing as we seem to, we are going to be 2 great BB teams next year or so. RTR!

Yes. They fired the lady coach two years ago. I cannot remember her name. She was bad. Former men's BB star Wendell Hudson took the job and is getting it back in shape. Hudson was an associste AD under Mal Moore. He was one of the best to ever play for Bama. He was signed by CM Newton. The first black to play any sport at Alabama. CM talked about him on Finebaum one day and said he had to get Bear's approval to sign him. Bear asked him can he play. CM told him he could and Bear said sign him up.
