Alabama school bans the word "Easter"

She's a black UA graduate. And here's the joke: doctors had to put her into a coma in 2012 because of a blood disease and when she woke she said "Jesus help me."

Hmm...I used to live almost directly across the road from that school.  They have a VERY good reputation, as do most of the Madison City Schools.  This is the first I'm hearing about this though.  I think it's kind of silly to ban the word, but then again, I have absolutely no problem with not engaging in Easter festivities at school.  In fact I think I'd prefer it.  I guess Christmas will also be a banned word.

Funny how all this works...if they'd banned "Passover" or "Ramadan" or something of that nature they'd be crying civil rights violations.  Why is it that only the minorities have protected rights anymore?

The school just doesn't want to get sucked into a lawsuit by the ACLU or someone.  I understand that and can't blame the school or the principal.  The thing that upsets me though is the point that HL makes.  Christians are expected to bend over backwards so as not to offend the delicate sensibilities of someone who might have a break down if their innocent ears hear a certain word.  Please.  I guess they can't study about Easter Island in geography class either.

Seriously, I don't see how "Easter" gets banned and "Christmas" (whose base word is the Savior of and basis for a religion) survives.  Unless it's just a popularity contest, cause everyone likes the gifts and all.

I too agree with HL.  I would rather my kids learn about God and his Word from me at home and not from some teacher that I hardly know.  He/she may be teaching something that I don't agree with...

These are very great points, although a lot of parents don't read the Bible so some kids don't have a chance. Ignorance is bliss. My compliments guys. God Bless. RTR!

I don't understand this bunch of people anymore. This is our country and our traditions are what GOD gave us. If we go to your country we have to learn your ways. So, if you come to our country, we are protestant you have to learn our or go home. I am sorry for you who want to kill us and don't like the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I hope they don't come to CRS and tell us we can not pray. RTR!
