Title: new computer/old hard drive question
Post by: Terrie1959 on October 15, 2011, 07:04:37 PM
My desktop computer died yesterday. Motherboard was fried. It died before I could get stuff from my hard drive. The computer tech guy said that I should be able to use my hard drive with my new computer. Is there anything special I have to do besides buy the external case for the hard drive?  I bought a new Asus computer yesterday and am still trying to get it all set up.  I basically want my documents, pictures and my Outlook emails.  Any ideas or suggestions?

TIA

Should work just fine.  Just make sure the external case is the right kind for the hard drive and it has a cable that will match up to your computer.  Assuming you have all of that, just plug it in and you will see another drive listed when you go to My Computer (probably E:).

You should be able to just open the mailbox file in Outlook and see all of them.  The tricky part will be finding where the file is stored.
