It’s not the postseason the Alabama hoops coach wanted. That would have involved a happier Selection Sunday, but consider the big picture for a second-year coach. His current team played its way into NCAA Tournament consideration and answered a crushing snub by the selection committee by romping to the NIT’s grand end game in New York’s Madison Square Garden. And his former teams? Well, Virginia Commonwealth — its star players all recruited by Grant — just played its way from the First Four In to the Final Four. Florida, which won the first of two consecutive national titles while Grant served as associate head coach, made it to this year’s Elite Eight.
