Title: Navy v. Houston
Post by: Catch Prothro on November 27, 2015, 11:25:45 AM
Navy won the toss and deferred.

Houston drove down the field, mostly passing, and scored a TD on their opening drive.

Navy answered right back with a TD drive of their own, which included a 52 yard QB run, and no passes other than a backwards pass that counted as a lateral.

I am surprised by Miami taking such a lead so quick. I thought Pitt might be ready for this. RTR!

Hey ricky, I didn't see yours.  We must have posted at about the same time.

You didn't have to delete, I have the power to merge.   8)

Major Applewhite is the offensive coordinator for Houston.  This is the kind of offense that Saban didn't want to run.   :lol2:

Lucky bounce and catch for Houston on 3rd and 10.  Should have been an INT

Unfortunately, and things seem to be going Houston's way.  What looked like it could be a Houston fumble recovered by Navy, player called down instead, ruling "stands."  INT pass bounces out of Navy's defender's hands, off of Houston receiver's shoulder pad, up into the air and is caught by receiver, leading to second Houston TD.

Navy tied up again. Navy has a QB that is well worthy of Heisman consideration to me. RTR!

TD Navy on drive with 2 nice passes to open receivers.  Houston is stacking the box.

I noticed all game Houston has had at times 8 and even 9 men in the box. I was wondering if Navy would open up and pass or even if they could? They answered my question. RTR!

Yes, he's a great player, clearly one reason Navy has done so well this year.

Navy is going to need some defensive play if they win this ballgame though. I don't know if Navy can score 60 or not to win? RTR!

Navy needs to either find a defense or score a lot of points.  I think the defense is going to have to step up for them to have a chance.

Not yet, another TD Houston. Ward Jr.

Miami is beating the tar out of Pitt. I think Navy is going to get out scored from the looks by a Houston team that can score every time they get the ball. RTR!

Houston coaches have their junk together. This great play and clock management. maybe Les miles needs to go to Houston to learn this. RTR!

That was a great kick. 24-14 Houston to me means Navy is in trouble with the lack of defense. RTR!

Houston is about to put the nail in the coffin for Navy. I really thought Navy was better than what they have showed today. RTR!

Navy starting the second half throwing an INT doesn't help either.  They needed a score to keep it close.  Now Houston is first and goal.

TD Houston. One handed catch and race for a score. Houston is one of the best teams I've seen all year. RTR!

Navy keeps fighting, but it doesn't look like they can stop Houston.

Oh well, I was pulling for the Midshipmen.  I knew it would be tough on the road the day after Thanksgiving.

Navy 24  Houston 45

Three TD lead with 11:27 left in the game.

Yea there is no quit in Navy for sure. I am glad because these are the guys who will be leading our Navy someday. Houston is just to good on this day for anybody. They would play us close today I am afraid. RTR!

Another TD for Navy, down by 14 now.  No quit.  Defense has to step up, and stop Houston for the rest of the game.

First and goal Houston.  We've seen this before.

Two minutes left.  Even if Houston doesn't make it, clock is ticking down below 2 minutes.

Houston using all of the clock, just running the football up the middle.

Clock down to under 1 minute, 48 seconds left.  Houston has it in the bag, third and goal up by 14 points.

Houston will probably win their championship game as far as I can see. Nobody should be able to stop an offense like this. RTR!

Houston's head coach was Urban Meyer's offensive coordinator at Ohio State last year.

Look what has happened to tOSU since he left.

He's already a hot commodity after one year as a head coach.
