Title: USA Today Database: Saban No Longer Highest-Paid Coach
Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 26, 2016, 11:35:02 AM
I would have guessed Urban Meyer but not him. How does a guy who's never won a title get these kind of bucks?

Saban, however, still ranks second and is set to bring in $6,939,935 this year.

[Ohio State’s Urban Meyer ($6,094,800) also tops the $6-million mark. Also earning more than $5 million this year are Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops, Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher, Texas’ Charlie Strong and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin.

Strong making over $5 mil a year, wow!

Harbaugh is a proven winner.  He has won titles -- in the NFL.  Also put a college like Stanford on the football map.

Michigan fans were dying to return to relevance again, willing to pay whatever it took.  I'd say Harbaugh is their best chance at getting there.

It's obvious they were desperate to win to pay such a salary. He went to the Super Bowl but lost to his brother. I think the match-up between Meyer & Harbaugh is fascinating. Still, 9 mil a year is incredible.

Finebaum said Saban makes more because of deferred money & stated a study concluded that Saban could be paid $15-$30 mil a year and the University would still be making a boatload of money.

Apparently Harbaugh's compensation is partially deferred and also includes interest-free loans.  So how much is he actually making.   ???
