Title: Why is North Texas playing in a bowl game?
Post by: N.AL-Tider on December 27, 2016, 01:30:09 PM
North Texas has a season record of 5-7 so I'm not sure how they got a bowl game... Alex Morris isn't doing badly but his team is currently trailing Army 31-21 late in the 3rd quarter.

Miss St was also 5-7 and played in a bowl. There are more bowls than there are quality teams to play in them.

My understanding is that if you watch a certain conference is assigned certain bowl commitments so no matter the record that conference gets their next best team in that bowl game. RTR!

North Carolina State is already bragging that they beat an SEC team. Vandy, who usually embarrasses us.

Because there are so many bowls, the 5-7 teams with the highest academic ratings get to play.

That loss by Vandy doesn't embarrass me.  I think every conference should have at least one ACC-like team within it's ranks...Vandy is the SEC's... :nah:

The vaulted Big10 has several teams that are terrible.  Purdue, Rutgers, Illinois, Maryland, even Michigan State was lousy this year.

An NCS player said he expects to win two straight against the SEC because they begin next year with South Carolina.
