You have to admit, our schedule has turned out to be pitiful. Interesting article, be sure to read the whole thing by scrolling. Funny stuff about Chiznik and Auburn.

Quote
“If you start the polls later in the season,” South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said, “it sort of gives you a better idea of where everyone is.”

It would also mean the Gamecocks (or a handful of other teams) would be receiving first place votes—or maybe even be ranked No. 1. As it is, we have Alabama, the undisputed No. 1 team in the country, with every first place vote in the AP poll and all but one in the coaches' poll.

I just don't get why these pundits belittle Bama's beatdown of Michigan but also bring up Notre Dame's victory over the same team, while failing to mention that ND won by only 7 points.

Alabama has beaten the opponents down in every phase of the game. The scores do not represent the devastating affect our beat downs cause for UM and Arky. Before both games, the ESPN guys and the bookies gave Bama an edge but that was all. LSU was the greatest team ever to play the game until we spanked them. Then all you heard was how if they only had a QB, etc. Same with Texas in '09. Anyone that watched our "OL" steamroll Michigan realized who was #1. Don't fall for the rest of the country trying to make a BS case against Bama. No one can beat this team. RTR

I think your crimson-colored glasses are affecting your vision. We were not exactly overwhelming against Western Kentucky or Ole miss. We beat a Michigan team that is not even ranked now. Saying we beat them so bad they have not recovered is "fan talk." They were overrated, period. Arkansas fell apart because of losing Petrino and Missouri is looking bad and it's QB won't play against us. Our schedule is definitely not very impressive right now. We are lucky right now, because nobody really looks great right now. It might be the end of the regular season, even the SECCG before we know a lot about this team.

 Huh?

I would agree that our schedule is weaker than expected. It is not our fault two top 10 preseason teams were over rated except for the fact we beat them badly. We have not played perfect football but we have been impressive. We have averaged beating teams 40-7 and our closest win was 19 points. There is not another team in the country as good as we are. USCe, Florida, Oregon and WV have good teams this year but if we played any of them this weekend we would be a double digit favorite to win.

Being a favorite doesn't mean we win. Florida and WV don't worry me. USCs is the real deal, unless they do their el foldo act as usual. Oregon can go either way, but I think our size wears them down. I can't wait to see Lacy at 110%.

Polls and stats can usually start a civil war amongst college football fans quicker than the blink of an eye. Everyone has their opinion of why their favorite team(s) is better than the rest and the never ending circle begins and that is why collge football is so great.

Sure I think Bama has the best team in the country and why shouldn't I think this. Here is a team that has proven their worth on the field and not just in a newspaper column and until someone finally beats them, they are the reigning champs. Before the season started, Bama was given credit by all of the brilliant analysts for having a tough enough schedule to solidify their position at being number one, but something happened to a couple of the teams and all of the analogy went right out of the window. Is this reason enough to say that Bama isn't as good as everyone thought? Bama has done nothing to lower their standards as the best team in the country and all they can do is play the teams on their schedule and win.

There are some very big tests awaiting this team and maybe these so called Bama doubters should be a little patient and wait for the games to happen, then they can make a better analogy of how good Bama really is. Being ranked number one in the polls doesn't guarantee any team of a sure win regardless of how good you think you are, there are upsets every week.

My best advice to these doubters of how good is this Bama program, is for them to get their team on Bama's schedule, then they will find out first hand and it won't be by the ranking of a poll. Roll Tide!! Wink

Maybe overly optimistic fans could do the same thing. I'm not a doubter, but an observer and all my training and experience says you have to look at the big picture, be honest with yourself, don't rush to judgement, make an honest assessment of your thoughts and the facts, keep an open mind, and never assume too much. I've been that way for over 35 years, due to my experiences. I never get to up or too down by looking at things that way. I guess it's called pragmatism. Even when Coach Bryant was the coach, I was the same way. I have said this a couple of times, right now our best asset is there does not appear to be any truly dominating teams out there this year. This is a huge plus for our guys. Excellent posts by you guys.
