In 1960, Tommy Brooker got credit for a game-winning field goal he didn't kick. Crimson Replay's Player of the Week explains here...

I remember that 1960 GaTech game vividly.  Had never heard of the confusion over who kicked the winning FG.  Always knew it was Richard O'Dell.  Too bad I didn't ever bet on that bit of trivia.

Glad Tommy B mentoned the FG he kicked to beat the barn 3-0 in 1960.  That was a big win too.

Good video.  I love watching the former players tell old battle stories.

Thought I remembered Tommy Brooker from Tuscaloosa. Realty company-- insurance as well. I thought I remembered him being mayor of Tuscaloosa long ago,-- google didn't prove that out.

I rented a house from him (he rents for private owners), and yes, he works as a realtor and sells insurance with his wife.  In the Queen City area.

So you don't remember him running for local political office (this may go back 25-30 years? Maybe Jamos will know.

I think I remember something about that.  I don't think he ever was mayor, but he might have run for office, a long time ago.

Ah, here you go.  I think I remember reading something about this in his office.

What a gig being mayor of T-town (until the Tornadoes). Invites to the Presidents Mansion several times a year. Working side by side with the Chamber of Commerce. Keys to the city. Probably no term limits. Front row to any event. Po-po escorts through ballgame traffic. Plus, anytime you want to talk to CNS you just make up some award (yard of the month) to give him or cut off his water. I just think I remember Tommy Brooker yard signs.

 Huh?

Newspaper says he ran for mayor in 1976.  Bear was coach, and the late 70s were some of his best years.
