After scoring seven runs or more in all three games of its weekend series against Arkansas, Alabama scored another eight runs Tuesday during an 8-2 win over Samford in Tuscaloosa.

A Tide offense that has struggled much of the season and that ranks last in the SEC in runs scored has scored 33 runs in its last four games heading into its final series of the regular season.

Alabama (31-21, 15-12 SEC) got three runs in the first inning Tuesday on a three-run home run from outfielder Georgie Salem. The Tide added two more runs in the second inning to go up, 5-0, and later added three runs in the eighth inning to push its lead to 8-2.

Are they getting hot at the right time? I sure hope they can keep it going.

Alabama is playing well.Th bats are stronger than they have been all year. Two guys that have struggled at the plate this year, Salem & Haynie, have been moved to the 3 and 5 spot in the line up. They are getting the ball for average and power late in the year. Freshman Taylor has been producing all year but he is not striking out as much as earlier in the year. Pitching has been outstanding all year.

We have won 4 games in a row and 7 of our last 10. Only Samford was a non-SEC game.

We play # 8 South Carolina at home this weekend starting Thursday. This will be a difficult series but one that offers us a big opportunity. One win get us to 16-14 and two gets us to 17-13. Historically 15-15 with the difficult SEC schedule will get you in the tournament. We will also have another opportunity next week in the SEC Tournament.

Everybody has been waiting for Salem and Haynie to start coming through. This is a good time for them to be producing. If Henry could start getting a hot bat, the post season future could be very bright.
