Alabama offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier accepted his new job, he knew exactly what to expect. And he knows what is expected from him.

As such, he joked there will be no surprises when the Crimson Tide's offense takes the field this season.

Well he sure is slick giving other coaches last years' films to watch. Then all of a sudden we come out with the statue of Liberty. I look forward to see what he and cNS have on their minds. RTR!

CDN was almost giddy as he spoke to us Tuesday night. He said he was just amazed to see all of the talent that Bama has during spring practice. He said to take these young ones and practice them against a defense like Bama has is just amazing in developing the players into the star players that they came to Bama to become.

He hinted that Brent Calloway might become the new H Back and I liked that. They have been looking hard to find a position for him because he is quite an athlete and spring practice might have just resolved that problem.

There will be surprises.  But they will be subtle and effective.

Sounds like a good fit for him.  Now they just need to figure out what to do with that Sims guy (the other one).   Something other than we're desperate for a backup QB role.

He did talk some of Sims and they do want to use him more than they have already. He mentined several variations of how he can be used so maybe it will be different for him this year. He wasn't too happy about him being injured and losing all of that valuable practice time in the spring though.

With Phil Sims gone, the options at backup QB are slim.  Blake could use more practice snaps, too bad for the injury, and he might be the best option for running the Wildcat.  Perhaps he could have a select package of plays -- if AJ gets injured, the opponents defense will be prepared for the usual playbook -- and it would add a new wrinkle.

One of the best comments I heard was him fitting in with the staff.  It is extremely important for a staff to fit/work together.

Scarborogh agrees with you -- he's a good fit.  Click here for link

If it sounds like the words of Saban coming out of Nussmeier’s mouth, don’t be alarmed. There was no ventriloquism at work in South Alabama on Thursday night. Nussmeier wasn’t reading a memorandum or speaking from a teleprompter. The young offensive coordinator is cut from the same cloth as his new boss and knows a good way of playing football when he sees it.
