Better now than in late August. Injuries happen and that is why we recruit depth at every position. When a guy goes down it creates an opportunity for the next guy in line.

My daughter tore her ACL back in the fall about a week before the first basketball game of the season.  Had surgery in November just before Thankgsiving.  Her Dr said that the recovery to get back to playing shape is at least 9 months.  Closer to 1 year in some cases.  With the strength and conditioning program at Bama I would say he could possibly burn his medical redshirt in the Iron bowl if needed...

It is expected to take Jackson about five months to recover, which could cause him to miss preseason camp. If Jackson is unable to return for the regular season, a medical redshirt is possible.

I think 5 months is a bit optomistic.

I thought 9 months was the normal time. He will redshirt next year. He could be ready to get some practice reps in by December during bowl practice.

Vinny Sunseri hurt his during the A&M game and they said he could have played in the bowl game but they did not want to push it. Some heal faster/slower than others.

"Eddie Jackson had an MRI Sunday which confirmed that he had ligament damage in his knee that required surgery," Saban said in a university statement. "We have a great medical staff here and he will have the full support of everyone in the organization as he goes through the rehab process. We are confident Eddie will make a full recovery and be ready to go this fall."

Definitely a big bummer but wish a good and speedy recovery for Eddie.  We need ya man!
