Good morning to all. Mrs. Dottie got out there cutting the grass today for me cause my back was really hurting this morning. We have a 3 acre yard and she is in high gear trying to get done before the heat sets in to bad. I hope everybody is really careful today this heat is dangerous, I know I worked in construction 33 years and you have to take care of yourself on days like today. RTR!

Thanks for the advice, 2.
Preacher, you BOTH take it easy.  Too hot for outdoors work.

Wednesday AM YNP pics:

Incredible. The day started with an elk running at me across the river (running). Then a herd (HERD) of Bison crossed right next to me. They settled down on either side of the river, and I was in the middle. No worries; kept fishing.

Keep in mind that these pics are from the GoPro (very wide-angle lens). In other words, Bison and Elk in the GoPro are closer than they appear!

Crazed elk:

Cooperative little trout (while Bison watch nearby):

Great stuff! I'm guessing you talked some sense into the elk?

Upper 90's again here in SC. Spent the day on the road between Greenwood, Abbeville and Calhoun falls visiting doctors and old folk homes. I'm pooped. Headed to a restaurant then prolly bed, before I do it all over again tomorrow.

Y'all have a good night!

Wow Chechem, those are beautiful pics. It's like watching the Alaskan people on TV. I bet you have a grin as wide as Texas when you see all that. RTR!

Time for coffee, then fishing.

Hopefully I'll have several in hand before 8AM.

I'd say you have fly fishing down pat!  Loving the pics, so keep 'em coming!

Heading back to Greenwood today, then up to Colonial Beach, Va tomorrow, to spend Father's Day weekend with my oldest daughter. Traveling all around SC next week then home for a couple of days before heading to Tallassee, Al for a day and then to Lafayette, La for 3 days. Isn't there some kind of award for being a road warrior?  Huh?

Hey Chechem I think you are doing that wrong.  If you keep the fish instead of turning them loose, you won't have to get up at 5:30 the next morning to go catch them all over again.

On a serious note, the pictures are awesome.  Applause E-Cred

If I keep them I'll awake at 5AM in jail.   Sad

Well, Bison can be intimidating (all that grunting and snorting; like a giant Boston Terrier ).  Today they were right where I wanted to fish.  I worked around them.

This morning (5:15) found me standing in the river, fog lifting from the water and drifting over the herd of 80 Bison that was resting nearby. The sky was pink and lovely. This sounds corny, but it was inspiring just being there. I hadn't caught a fish (yet), but as 2 Sandhill Cranes flew past trumpeting their bizarre calls I realized how special YNP can be. By 6AM the herd had moved away, fog remained, and a herd of Elk swam the river below me (200m). They grazed in the meadow along the river until something spooked them, and they ran into the forest.

Get this! At about 7AM cars started pulling into the parking area 100m from me, and I could see them look around, then drive away disgusted that no wildlife was there for viewing.

People, they're overrated!

Here are 2 of the more significant catches of the morning:

14" Brown Trout taken with #17 Iris Caddis

19" Garter Snake taken by a XL sun-tanned hand.
