Title: NFL Players File Antitrust Suit Against League as Owners Lock Out Players
Post by: ssmith general on March 12, 2011, 04:20:17 AM
"WASHINGTON -- Unable to decide how to divvy up $9 billion a year, NFL owners and players put the country's most popular sport in limbo Friday by breaking off labor negotiations hours before their contract expired. The union decertified; the league imposed a lockout.

Ten players, including MVP quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, sued the owners in federal court in Minneapolis. Then, at midnight, the owners locked out the players -- signaling the NFL's first work stoppage since 1987.

"We are locked out," union president and former player Kevin Mawae said in a text message to The Associated Press. "We were informed today that players are no longer welcome at team facilities."

Remember that move the repaclements?  I am getting in pretty good shape doing all this logging.  Maybe we should put together a team.

LOL.  I remember how bad some of those repaclement teams were.  Hmmm, "yes", you'd better strap in on.  Go in for Manning.  I'll anchor the line.

When I played QB, which was like 2 plays my whole career, it was part of a play we called "fire" which was basically a precursor to the wildcat.  I took the snap and ran a sweep and tossed it to our black dude and he ran with it.

My only QB experience was on the scout team one week.  Mostly I was catching, not throwing.
Reminds me of the Mash episode, where Trapper mentions an old football injury.  "Knee", he's asked.  "No", he says, "Hemorrhoids; I spent a lot of time on the bench."

We didnt have enough players for anyone to be on the bench...  One of our former players is trying to put all the games on-line.  Hopefully some day in the future you guys can watch me and the probably the worst team of all time play football.  We had 8th graders starting, it was the second year of the program.

Will there be football next year?

Do they still draft?

That'd be great for jollies.

Unfortunately motion pictures weren't invented yet when I played (wink).  But we had those leather helmets.

Speaking of winks, I miss the small emoticons that fit between lines better.  Can't we have both options?

Do they still draft?

I think it will last until mid-summer.  Right before training camp should begin will be when the urgency kicks in.

One of the articles I saw yesterday said the only NFL activity that is still on is the draft.

I wonder what the draftees are going to think. They will have to find a place to workout all summer. RTR!

I'll look for it again, but I think I remember Julio saying if there was a lock-out he'd be back in school.  Found it   link (http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1198359)

I think it is horrible that he had to give up his eligibility.  Maybe he at least got some money from an endorsement deal.

He got a lot of money from the endorsement deal and he'll still be drafted.  I read the quote to mean he's going to continue in school to finish his degree and rehab the injury with the people he's comfortable working with.
