Good morning everybody! 3 days til #16. I hate we couldn't hold the lead against Ole Miss last night, but they played hard. Maybe they were looking ahead to Kentucky.

Good morning, all.  Glad to see Jamos is up and around; hope he keeps improving rapidly, and can enjoy fully the big game Monday.  Hopefully Ricky will be well by then too.



Finally home again, but I'm off to a gun show today.  Lots of interest in these events this week, so it should be interesting.  I'm sure I'll have to listen to plenty of opinions while stuck behind my tables.  Give me strength!!

Good morning everybody. It is cloudy but a beautiful day to feel better. I am glad too, because I have a conference to go to tomorrow. There will be a lot of fans there from each side but I guess it will be like normal the Alabama fans usually don't rub it in to bad like the auburn people would if they are winning. I do hope everybody is well today this stuff going around has several of my friends down. RTR!

The team arrived safely in Arizona yesterday. They'll practice today then rest for the game.

2 days to #16. Can't get here fast enough. Everything I've read says this team is as ready as ever. I hope we smoke them!

I hope we can beat Kentucky tonight, too!

Morning Everyone.

It's another dreary looking morning with the chance of a big weather change later on today, hopefully there won't be any bad storms with it.

I heard on the news this morning that there is very little interest in tickets for the big game Monday night. I think this is comparatively speaking to the games of past years. College football has a good idea with the playoffs but they better back up and take a look at the fan base and what they can afford. As usual, the "have its" have no problem with the cost of college football but the "have nots" are starting to struggle with the big costs. I use the terms "have its" and "have nots" as an average income family compared to a better than average income family. There's many more of the "have nots" than there is of the "have its" so looking at the future of the sport, they better consider the number of games on the regular season schedule before they consider adding more teams to the playoffs.

Hope everyone is feeling okay as the "flu bug" is making it's rounds as usual this time of year, stay dry and warm.

I think you're right, J. The price of tickets for high profile games have hit their ceiling, and have now, apparently surpassed it. I think they have no choice but to back off of the huge price of the tickets. Reading other forums, people have stated that they had to choose between going to the first playoff game or the NC game. Most agreed that they went to the playoff game because there was no guarantee that they would be in the NC game, and those are the tickets with the highest price.

Great points J about playoffs, ticket sales, and the attendance problems that could occur if the playoffs were expanded beyond 4 teams.  

As for ticket sales, I'm assuming the tickets were sold long ago?  So the question is how much profit the scalpers realize.  

The average price for a seat dropped dramatically this morning to $575. On December 22 the average price was $1,335 .  The cheapest seats on Stubhub this morning were just under $200 for upper deck corner.   Perhaps sales did not live up to expectations, because as J says, people had to choose between games and couldn't afford both.  (I knew Bama fans who didn't go to the Sugar Bowl last year because they only planned to attend the Natty.)  

Perhaps folks selling tickets on the secondary market were overly greedy in the first place and overpriced their tickets, taking into consideration the extra time and expense of travelling to Arizona to see the game in addition to paying for the extra game being played.  When the prices started out so high, folks were turned off from going, and now it's getting late to make plans.  Even though football ticket prices have dropped, the price of air fare has been increasing, as it always does closer to flight time, and flight availability has decrease).
