What do you guys think about this? I can see a program like Vandy or Miss. State doing this since they never win anything, but Alabama & Georgia? Just wondering.

The Georgia Bulldogs fell short of their ultimate goal in 2012 after losing to eventual national champions Alabama in the SEC Championship Game but that isn't stopping the Bulldogs from celebrating their achievements from the 2012 season with championship hardware. On Wednesday, Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray posted a photo of the SEC East championship rings he and his teammates received with the caption "Time to get a National Championship ring next year. These are sweet!"

Something Bama would never do.  Sounds like the Barn to me, maybe LSU.

Saban did it in 2008. Might want to read the article.

Ask any Alabama basketball player how they like their 2012 SEC West Champion ring from year before last. On second thought maybe you should not ask since they did not get one.

We did not get one for the 2008 football season either. If we had awarded championship rings and acted like we won something I doubt we would have used coming up short as motivation to go unbeaten in 2009.

UGA needs to set their goals higher.

Other teams in the SEC have awarded rings to their players for winning their division, including Arkansas in 1998, Auburn in 2002 and Alabama in 2008. At the time, Nick Saban said he believed his players deserved recognition for winning their first divisional title since 1999.

Yep, me too...sounds a lot like a T-ball league where you can get a 3 ft tall trophy for being most improved bench warmer on the left end of the bench or maybe for bringing the best sammiches to the games

LOL!!! My exact feelings when I read this article. This puts us on the same level as Arkansas & Auburn who did the same thing.

Well this sounds funny, but if they obtained what is printed than I don't have a problem. Now, when people start buying rings for National Championship and rings cause they were in suspension that is just wrong. One thing it is and out and out a Lie. It is kind of funny though. RTR!

No, I didn't read it earlier.   Embarrassed

That's not something Bama promoted in the press.

Geez, we let teams with .500 (or in some cases worse) records go to bowl games, and get rings for winning a division? Are we going to start rewarding teams for simply showing up to the game on time and their uniforms on properly?

Laughing

At this point, I might be willing to try it.  One of my little league players came to the last game without their uniform because they lost it, and another one got there in the 2nd inning.
