Tuesday afternoon...

— First-team cornerback Josh Jobe was in a black non-contact jersey ...   :dunno:

— Miller Forristall (foot), defensive lineman LaBryan Ray (ankle), and backup cornerback Nigel Knott (undisclosed medical issue) weren’t practicing.

Full-pad workouts begin Wednesday.

Wednesday:

Quote
For the first full day in pads, Alabama head coach Nick Saban was at least slightly merciful in his practice venue.  The Crimson Tide went inside for its Wednesday practice, ...avoiding the 93-degree humid Tuscaloosa heat.

Tight end Miller Forristall was back for the practice after sitting out the last week with a foot injury...  Major Tennison continued to work with the first unit at tight end, followed by Cam Latu and walk-on Giles Amos.

Cornerback Josh Jobe was back at practice after missing Tuesday’s workout with an undisclosed injury.

Defensive end LaBryan Ray and defensive back Nigel Knott continued to be out of practice.

Thanks Chech. I sure hope we can cut down on the injuries this year.

Just comes with the territory.
Maybe Tua learned that he can't stand back there for 7 seconds waiting for a receiver.  I'm betting we play more 4 wideouts and quick passes.  Splitting out a TE, like we did last year, isn't the same.  We've got enough WRs, and Tua has enough experience, that we should have a great quick-passing game.

Saban:

Quote
“We don’t have to really decide who we’re going to have to coach this early in camp, but I think how they respond on Saturday's scrimmage goes a long way in telling you if a guy has the right stuff relative to the maturity to be trustworthy to go out there and do a job, whether that’s special teams, offense, defense or whatever part of our team. That’s going to be the No. 1 priority for the scrimmage on Saturday.”

That is a double-edged sword IMO.  Remember when we complained about Jalen Hurts pulling the ball down and running before his receiver got open?  Now the complaint is that Tua waits too long...

We panicked during this period the past 2 years because we "lacked leadership on the defense".

It worked out okay.

Trey Sanders wasn’t spotted two days after head coach Nick Saban said the freshman running back was “doing really, really well” in camp. Saban should address his absence Saturday after the team’s first scrimmage of the preseason.

— Freshman defensive back Brandon Turnage was seen in a black, non-contact jersey before practice and was not on the field.

— Tight end Miller Forristall, who is coming back from a foot injury, appeared mobile during individual drills.

Saturday's first scrimmage:

 >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

https://bamahammer.com/2019/08/10/alabama-football-first-scrimmage-news-nuggets/

Not good.  The biggest news for Alabama football at Saturday’s scrimmage is the possibly serious injury to senior, inside linebacker, Josh McMillon. Josh was expected to start next to Dylan Moses against Duke. There has been no official diagnosis but all reports are the Crimson Tide staff is concerned it could a serious injury.

Adding McMillon to the list, five key starters were sidelined Saturday. Mike linebacker, Dylan Moses and right guard, senior, Matt Womack were withheld from the scrimmage. Neither is expected to miss much work. LaBryan Ray and D.J. Dale are out with a foot and knee problem. Both are expected to return no later than Duke game week.

There is also an unconfirmed rumor backup defensive lineman Stephon Wynn was banged up during the scrimmage.

Based on carefully leaked reports from some present, there were plenty of positives from the Crimson Tide’s first scrimmage. Redshirt freshman, running back Jerome Ford broke a couple of good runs.

Multiple unconfirmed reports are Terrell Lewis, Anfernee Jennings and Chris Allen had strong performances.

Will Reichard was 4-for-4 on field goals with one being in the 50-yard range.

More from Saturday:
https://alabama.rivals.com/news/the-3-2-1-alabama-crimson-tide-fall-camp-nick-saban

“They did really well today,” head coach Nick Saban said when asked about the kicking units following the scrimmage. “I don’t know exactly what the stats were, but both punters — Will (Reichard) and Skyler (DeLong) — both punted the ball really well. Will was really good on field goals. I think Joe (Bulovas) was pretty good on field goals.”

According to reports from those in attendance Reichard was especially impressive, connecting on all four of his field goals with a long of 50 yards during the scrimmage. This comes after the freshman nailed a 43-yard kick during the A-Day game this spring. Meanwhile, Alabama fans will welcome positive news surrounding Bulovas after the redshirt sophomore delivered a disappointing 1 of 3 showing on A-Day.

The success in the punting game is also an encouraging trend. DeLong averaged 47.5 yards on his four attempts during A-Day and looks to have finally put his freshman demons behind him. As Saban mentioned, Reichard is also a candidate for the punting role after averaging 42.2 yards on six punts during A-Day.

Dylan Moses was back participating after being held out multiple days because of an unspecified medical issue...

— Even though Alabama is thin at inside linebacker with the recent knee injury to Josh McMillon further depleting the corps, Ben Davis remained with the edge rushers...

— Defensive end LaBryan Ray (ankle) made his first appearance of the preseason.

Chadarius Townsend, the receiver who spent time with the running backs during the spring, was back ... joining Najee Harris, Brian Robinson and Co...

— With Matt Womack standing off to the side with his helmet off, ...

— Defensive lineman Stephon Wynn was not spotted. He was injured Saturday ... posted Sunday on his Instagram account that he underwent surgery.

From yesterday:

https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2019/08/alabama-practice-report-notes-on-linebackers-secondary.html

Quote
— Markail Benton was the other first-team inside linebacker next to Dylan Moses, stepping into the spot that had been manned by Josh McMillon, who is likely out for the season due to a knee injury he suffered during the Crimson Tide’s scrimmage on Saturday. Freshman Shane Lee and Ale Kaho were the second-team inside linebackers. The third group consisted of Jaylen Moody and freshman Christian Harris.

— Outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings had a brace on his right knee.

— Nose tackle DJ Dale (sprained knee) wasn’t practicing. Neither was reserve nose tackle Stephon Wynn, who sustained an undisclosed injury during the scrimmage on Saturday.

— Freshman Jordan Battle was the second-team strong safety. Daniel Wright was the second-team free safety. Shyheim Carter was the second-team nickel back. Scooby Carter and Marcus Banks were the second-team cornerbacks.

Why does AJ have a brace on his knee?

Physical fall practice is a requirement if you want to be a physical team. The saying you play like you practice is true. Remember a few years ago Chizik at the barn decided to not allow tackling in fall practice to avoid injury. They did not tackle anyone all year. The barn won 3 games and Chizik lost his job. Football is a physical sport and injuries happen. That is why depth is so important.

Thursday Aug 15th report:

https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2019/08/alabama-practice-report-notes-from-steamy-outdoor-workout.html

-- It looks like they’re still working with FSU grad transfer Landon Dickerson at center with the first group next to Evan Neal at left guard and Alex Leatherwood at left tackle.

-- With DJ Dale still out with a minor injury, Phidarian Mathis is still in the first rotation in the middle of the defensive line next to Raekwon Davis and freshman Justin Eboigbe. ...

-- Defensive lineman LaBryan Ray is still going through the acclimation period ...

...

-- In the secondary, Patrick Surtain II looks like the nickel back (aka Star) in the nickel formation with Josh Jobe and Trevon Diggs at corners. Jayln Armour-Davis and freshman Marcus Banks were corners in the second group.

-- ...

Mel Kiper Jr. updated his draft "big board" or at least the top 25.  It's a subscription article, but Golic and Wingo read a lot of it on air this morning.  Bama had six players in the top 25!

(From memory so may not be perfect)

1) Jeudy
4) Tua
12) McKinney
13) Moses
23) Diggs
24) Ruggs III

Tua was the top QB at #4.  I believe Justin Herbert (Ducks) was #8 and Fromm was #25.

11 defensive players who we faced last year talk candidly about Tua:

Quote
Clemson, to put it bluntly, was more than ready.

Cornerback A.J. Terrell stepped in front of Tagovailoa’s third pass of the night for an interception he returned 44 yards for a stunning 7-0 opening salvo.

“Really, we knew that he wasn’t reading the defenses that well in the backfield,” former Clemson defensive lineman Bert Huggins said. “So, we were disguising the defense pretty well and then we would move into a different defense. He just couldn’t read the defense.”

It was the first of two interceptions Tagovailoa threw that night after entering the game with just four in 14 games.

Clemson linebacker Kendall Joseph credited defensive coordinator Brent Venables for exhausting game planning.

“We understand what he wanted to do and we wanted to exploit it,” Joseph said. “It started with trying to knock him off rhythm and get some pressure and get some hits on him and try to rattle the quarterback and I think we did a good job of that.”

The 14 game tapes provided the blueprint.

“What they did all year,” Joseph said. “They were a big RPO team -- a deadly RPO team so we had some plans in place to knock out the RPO and break off his rhythm. That’s how their first downs and just moving the ball. The RPO was the biggest thing we saw.”

Alabama moved the ball between the 20s fairly effectively, given the final score. It was the 1-for-4 red zone touchdown success rate and the two turnovers that swung the momentum several times that night.

Stopping the run-pass option plays were a challenge.

“You have to definitely have the numbers in the box for the run but you have to be physical,” Joseph said. “You can’t play soft because they were just getting six or seven yards on teams on first- and-second-downs. It’s hard to call a defense on third-and-3, third-and-2. Just stopping them on first down, getting physical, rotating those safeties and that’s what we did.”

Cornerback Trayvon Mullen called Tagovailoa a definite NFL first-round draft pick of the future noting his speed.

“He has a great arm on him and he can run,” Huggins added. “I think the injuries were bothering him a little bit but he’s a great quarterback. I think he’s going to do good and I wish the best for him.”

I have watched the NCG more than I want to admit and I will tell you what to us that night.
We got out played by great players, and outcoached by serious coaches. We got out cheered by better fans that night and their cheerleaders and band out did us from the time we got off the bus.
To win a NCG we have to play as one unified group of the whole shootin match or we get beat.
That is how we lost the 2018 NCG to a better program that night. RTR!

Saban asked: "Will O-line remain in flux until Deonte Brown is eligible?"

"Look, we’re just taking the guys that we have here that we can coach, that are ready to play and we’re focusing on coaching them so we can do the best job we can do with it. When somebody else comes back, we’ll do the same thing with them. But there’s no hypothetical plan for what might happen if this happened or that happened or this guy’s there or that guy’s not there. I don’t think you can do that. I think you’ve got to play the hand that’s dealt you and do the best you can with the guys that you’ve got, and the guys we’ve got right now are working really hard to try to do the best they can."

-- Asked about philosophy change in SEC where top teams are passing heavy, Saban said it’s a trend in college football in general. “I think space play is much more important than it used to be years ago," he said. “The game has opened up to where horizontally and vertically you got to cover the entire field. ... I think that has created a lot more explosive plays on offense. People with good skill players and a quarterback can take advantage of those things."

-- DJ Dale and Terrell Lewis probably will not practice Monday but will return later to practice and could play Saturday. Saban called kicker Will Reichard “more day-to-day and more questionable” than the other injured players. “We need to get it right now” and not have Reichard’s injury aggravate him the rest of the season.

...

-- Asked about Deonte Brown, Saban said any player must beat out another player to see the field. ... “That’s up to him.”

....

-- Anfernee Jennings and Xavier McKinney have “tried to take up some of the slack” of leadership on defense after injuries to other past leaders. ...

-- Saban is pleased with the progress they see in Christian Barmore. “The challenge for us is to get him to do the things he needs to do ...

-- Saban said it is important to sign a “good quarterback” each recruiting season ...

-- Saban said Joseph Bulovas did a great job against Southern Miss. ...

I am interested to see how deep in the dog house Deonta Brown is. I do not expect him to start but I think we will see a difference in the run game when he enters the game. I hope he has learned from this, comes back in shape and regains his pre-injury play we saw last year.

Brown would help out but our nagging injuries is what kills us every year. Reichard could be of help but as long as JB keeps hitting the FG's and xp's we will be ok. RTR!

To you and mull:

Brown will likely see plenty of action against Ole Miss, but I agree that prolly he won't start.  But he needs repetitions in games to get back and ready.  If he's indeed out of the doghouse, then I expect we'll see him starting against A&M in 2 weeks.

New report just came out that Reichard won't play this week, but should be well for A&M.

Bye week:

There’s bragging rights at stake with the receivers when it comes to blocking.

“We was actually talking about the other day, who’s the best blocker,” Devonta Smith said. “Right now, everybody says I'm in the lead right now, but I feel like last week, (Jerry) Jeudy and (Henry) Ruggs kind of got off up there with me with the blocks they had on a couple of my plays, so I feel like it'd be all them two for right now.”

Tuesday of bye week:

https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2019/10/a-few-notes-from-alabamas-first-open-week-practice.html

-- Henry Ruggs was in uniform but it didn’t look like he was participating ...

-- Defensive back Shyheim Carter was also out there and practicing after briefly leaving the game with an injury.

-- This was a practice getting back to the fundamentals. ...

-- Players were in helmets and shorts, not full pads.

-- Guard Landon Dickerson was taking a few snaps at center ....

-- On a related note, we spoke with receiver DeVonta Smith earlier Tuesday. He was asked if teammates were giving fellow receiver Tyrell Shavers a hard time about dropping a blocked punt for what would have been a touchdown. “Something like that,” he said with a grin. “Shav’s the person that’s always, he wants to be perfect. When he did that, we were just like, ‘It was there, and you just let it happen.’ It was funny ....”

-- Anyway, it was a practice light on news. They’ll be back out there again Wednesday.

Wednesday of bye week:

Alabama freshman kicker Will Reichard could play when the Tide return to the field Oct. 12 at Texas A&M...

“We’re kind of holding him out this week until Monday,” he said. “We think he should be ready for the next game, but these things are all day-to-day ...”

Reichard strained his flip flexor when he accidentally hit the tee during a kickoff Sept. 21 ...

In other injury news, defensive tackle DJ Dale (patellar tendon strain) did not practice Wednesday but participated Tuesday ... Dale suffered his injury against Southern Miss but has played each of the past two weeks.

Yes, there has been much chatter about his failure to push the starters.  This year he moved to outside LB, and was listed as #2 during August.  I don't think anyone expects him to suddenly become a top player.

Tuesday before A&M:

Reporters got a good look at a quarterback containment drill as Alabama continued to prep to visit Texas A&M ...

The drill was under the direction of outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri, with the first-team foursome of Terrell Lewis, Raekwon Davis, D.J. Dale and Anfernee Jennings. Although Lewis (knee) and Dale (ankle/foot) are coming off injuries, neither seemed to be limited.

...

There was no change with the first-team offensive line from the bye week, with Landon Dickerson at center and Deonte Brown at right guard. ...

...

True freshman defensive end Byron Young has been getting first-team reps alongside Dale and Davis during the observation periods this week.

...

Safety Xavier McKinney told reporters on Tuesday that his thumb was "better."  “It just got a little banged up, but it wasn’t nothing where I couldn’t play, so, of course, I played through that.”

Junior wide receiver Henry Ruggs III helped lead his position group through drills, in his usual spot.

Tuesday of TN Week:

Landon Dickerson remained as Alabama’s first-team center Tuesday as the Tide practice indoors because of rain.

Chris Owens, who returned to practice this week after missing the Texas A&M game because of a knee injury, ran with the second team.

Deonte Brown was slotted in at right guard next to Dickerson with the first team and would likely remain as the starter if Dickerson stays at center.

“He did a nice job in the game,” coach Nick Saban said Monday of Dickerson. “He’d played it before. He’s practiced it a lot before. Deonte (Brown) is obviously, too, to be a very powerful guy playing guard, which is what you want inside with the players that you have. More from Tuesday:
https://www.tidesports.com/practice-report-oct-15-2019/

...

– ... Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Lewis did get reps in the media viewing period, after not doing so yesterday.

– ... Christian Harris was seen in the Nickel package alongside Shane Lee. Alabama has attempted to help Harris’ transition by giving him less to prepare for in a given week, including rotating Anfernee Jennings and Markail Benton into some pass defense packages, but Harris got some work there today.

– ... Ale Kaho was shadowing Benton in drills. Thus, when it comes to Nickel, Benton is ahead of Kaho — which is expected, after Benton’s usage in the Texas A&M game.

AND:

Rain throughout the afternoon forced Alabama football inside ...

Freshman inside linebackers Shane Lee and Christian Harris remained with the first-team defense. Coach Nick Saban said Monday that there has been ongoing competition at inside linebacker.

Senior cornerback Shyheim Carter was wearing a brace on his left knee. Senior safety Jared Mayden had a brace on his right knee.

Sophomore cornerback Josh Jobe was off to the side during team drills. ...

- The offensive line groupings appear to be the same from earlier in the week. Landon Dickerson remains the first-team center ....

-- There were some different looks at middle linebacker at Texas A&M but Christian Harris and Shane Lee were still the first two in drills Wednesday. Markail Benton had an increased role against the Aggies. “Markail’s been injured and he was actually competing and we were going to try and create a role for him, and he pulled a hamstring and missed a couple of weeks,” Saban said Monday. “So, it was really to try and get him an opportunity, as well as maybe take some burden off the other guys ...”

I have to open this thread and read with one eye open. Always afraid of what I'll see, concerning new injuries. Looks like the guys are working through them a little bit at a time. Good to see McMillon's name at practice.

Dickerson could play QB if he wanted to. The guy is solid at every position he has played. Looks like maybe the O line is getting the chemistry it needs with this new lineup.

Defensively, the bottom line is, these young players are gaining experience every week. They showed flashes of a dominant D at times against A&M. Other times, not so much. But better than the performance against Ole Miss. Would really like to see them pull it all together against UT.

-- There had been some questions early in the week about whether Taulia Tagovailoa could receive playing time with is brother, Tua, injured. Asked if Taulia could receive playing time, Nick Saban said Monday that he will be Mac Jones’ backup. It is a tiny sample size, but in routes versus air during Wednesday’s practice, Jones looked sharper. Taulia also hit a receiver in his legs during a crossing pattern, but again, that was just a tiny sliver of the entire practice.

“I think this week is a time for maybe a little mental, physical and psychological rest for our team and an opportunity to improve. We’re going to practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week, ....”

About LSU's win over Aubrun:
“No opinion. They have a great team, they’re a very good team and they’ve got a good defensive team. We’re really not going to start LSU until Thursday. Players get stale if you work on a certain team for too long." ...

On how big Saturday’s start was for Mac Jones moving forward...
“I think it was good for his confidence. I think he’ll learn a lot from it. Even though we were very pleased with the things that he did in the game, there are obviously always things that we made mistakes on that we can improve. ....”

On where Alabama’s defense has improved the most
“I think we’re trying to make progress. I think when we’ve had Terrell Lewis and Anfernee (Jennings) both on the field, it’s really helped the pass rush. We’ve played those two guys together a lot, especially in nickel, so we’ve been able to affect the quarterback a lot more when those two guys are playing. ... And as a team, we still get far too many penalties, too many undiscipline-type penalties that we need to clean up. ...”

...
On what the approach will be with Tua Tagovailoa when he returns to practice...
“We’ll just have to see what he can do and evaluate his mobility and his performance. I can’t really predict any of those things. Just got to let it happen and see how it goes. ...”

https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_4b1bb7ba-fa91-11e9-84ec-8f2d2864ca33.html

LSU did not have a handful of starters present as the team practiced Tuesday afternoon for the first time since it beat Auburn.

Outside linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson, safety Grant Delpit, right tackle Austin Deculus, nose tackle Tyler Shelvin and tight end Thaddeus Moss were missing from the brief open portion of LSU's unpadded practice....

I like it!
There's something else going on with LSU players.  At least one (LB named Thornton) was suspended this week.  Two others were mentioned as doubtful for "undisclosed" reasons the same day.

Wednesday of bye week:
https://www.si.com/college/alabama/bamacentral/alabama-quarterback-tua-tagovailoa-return-to-practice-ankle-surgery/

Tua wasn't on the practice field inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility when reporters were allowed to observe one period of individual drills (less than five minutes).
However, a source confirmed to BamaCentral that the junior was in uniform at practice, but obviously limited...

Linebacker Ale Kaho (hand) again practiced in a black non-contact jersey, and with a cast.

Wide receiver DeVonta Smith (shoulder), running back Najee Harris (ankle), center Landon Dickerson (knee) and left guard Evan Neal (groin) were all at practice, but somewhat limited after suffering injuries against Arkansas.

Emil Ekiyor Jr. was working next to Dickerson as the first-team left guard.

Senior safety Jared Mayden (groin) and senior defensive back Shyheim Carter (knee) have been practicing this week.

The Crimson Tide won't start installing the game plan until Thursday.

I wonder if there is a list that's been compiled of all the injuries we've had this year? That would be impressive, in a bad way.

Alabama went through its final bye week practice Thursday afternoon.

...

— Tua Tagovailoa wasn’t out there during the viewing period. ...

— I didn’t see Najee Harris during the portion of the viewing period I was looking at the running backs. ...

— Other than Harris and tight end Miller Forristall, it looked like all of the players who suffered injuries against Arkansas were at practice. So was safety Jared Mayden, who missed the game with a groin injury.

More from Monday with more videos:
https://www.si.com/college/alabama/bamacentral/alabama-practice-injury-report-tua-tagovailoa-passing-drills/

Also practicing after getting banged up a bit against Arkansas were freshman left guard Evan Neal (groin), redshirt junior center Landon Dickerson (hamstring) and  junior wide receiver DeVonta Smith (shoulder).

The only player Saban called questionable was freshman kicker/punter Will Reichard (hip), who Alabama is being cautious with after aggravating his injury against Tennessee on Oct. 19.

Junior defensive lineman LaBryan Ray (foot) has yet to return to practice.

Wait, Tua isn't questionable anymore?

Looking at the video above, it doesn't appear that he has any issue stepping into and following through on his throws.  If we can keep LSU off him, he should be fine.

This is the second straight day Tagovailoa has been practicing, ...

I don't agree.  He needs to get his timing back that he had before surgery.  It seemed like the one thing Danielson said that I agreed with was that he seemed a bit off in that aspect.  IMO, he needs to play.  More importantly, our OL needs to protect him better...

I do see your point, but you have to weigh the importance of a healthy ankle, and getting all the reps needed that you think is necessary to keep him sharp. If he re-injures that ankle, they'll be playing without him anyway.

Well I could be wrong but...If an Oline can't protect our team against a "not so good team" then it stands to reason that they can't against a good defense.  Maybe Coach or someone else has seen something that I haven't and can offer their thoughts...

"I know people are probably going to ask about Tua. He’s got soreness in his ankle from playing in the game. Just like a lot of players this time of year, you’ve got to manage the practice. You’ve got to manage the reps. Just like last week, it’ll probably be a game-time decision as to whether he can or can’t play. I don’t even know for sure if he’ll be able to practice fully today. We expect him to be able to do some things, but we’ll just have to wait and see. It’s just kind of day to day."

It sounds to me like he's probably not playing, but could be available if needed.  Explanation would be that he's OK but had limited practice reps this week.

On DL rotation with so many injuries

Saban: In addition to Raekwon and DJ Dale...

"Well, Phil Mathis is also injured this week, so we have three guys on the front that are all questionable, maybe, for this game. We basically played the guys that we had available to us. I think both of the young guys went in, (Byron Young and Justin Eboigbe), and they both did a pretty good job of playing. But they have played all year long, so it wasn’t like they’ve never played before. (Christian Barmore) got to play a little bit more because of it. He’s been getting better and better as a player. We will actually have to play a couple guys in this game that has not played, but they have games left, so this would not negate the opportunity that they could still be redshirted if they ended up playing in this game. We have seven scholarship guys left in the defensive line, and they’ll all have to make a contribution in this game if all these guys are out for the game."

https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2019/11/what-injured-alabama-players-did-in-wednesdays-practice.html

-- On Monday, Nick Saban labeled four players as questionable for Saturday’s game against Western Carolina. Three of those players were dressed for practice Wednesday but watched individual drills from the side: wide receiver Henry Ruggs (bruised ribs), defensive lineman DJ Dale (twisted knee) and defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis. ...

-- The fourth, defensive lineman Raekwon Davis (sprained ankle), was not seen on the practice field at all. ...

-- Kicker Will Reichard was spotted in pads with the rest of the specialists but was only seen snapping the football to punters. ...

Well it is good to see we have a kicker that can snap the ball. I hope CNS takes a look at the girl from Hewitt-Trussvile or wherever it is that is kicking XP's and FG's for her team.
I wonder why we never here anything about the punter Perine? RTR!

Alabama began its preparation for the Iron Bowl this week, holding practice outside on a chilly Monday evening. Here are our observations from practice:
Freshman nose guard D.J. Dale was spotted at practice today but did not participate in any drills. Dale was seen standing near the defensive linemen wearing sneakers as he still recovers from a knee injury. After being held out of the game against Western Carolina due to injuries, senior Raekwon Davis and redshirt sophomore Phidarian Mathis were both spotted at practice and were participating in drills during the media viewing period.
Junior wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was back at practice after being held out of Saturday’s game with bruised ribs. In his Monday press conference, Nick Saban said that Ruggs was going to return to practice but was going to be considered day-to-day. Ruggs looked comfortable...
At the end of the media viewing period, freshman kicker Will Reichard was seen kicking from a standstill. Saban said that the freshman will be out ...

Wednesday before Boogs:
https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2019/11/dj-dale-remains-limited-at-alabama-practice-before-iron-bowl.html

Alabama starting nose guard DJ Dale appeared to remain limited at Wednesday’s practice, the final session open to reporters before Saturday’s Iron Bowl.

...

Alabama’s top group at defensive line consisted of Raekwon Davis, Phidarian Mathis and Byron Young. Both Davis and Mathis are coming off lower leg injuries ...

Henry Ruggs, who sat out Saturday’s win because of bruised ribs, seemed to fully participate in individual drills ...
